Default Heads for new 468

I'm back and forth on what to do for heads on my new HPR 468. I can have my genx 255 ls3 heads ported (cheapest) or go to a mast ls3 big bore head (insanely expensive), or maybe go to a LS7 style head such as the PRC 285 (middle of the road cost) and use adapters for my LOD Speedworks intake. What's everyone's thoughts?

My personal opinion is to go to ls7 style. The softer short side radius will help flow overall. And usually the valve is larger.

Agree with Darth.
Definitely go LS7 style for an engine of this size.
I would do the same.
Whatever you do , don't go cathedral.

I believe the mast 295 uses a 2.25 intake valve ,12 deg valve angle and ls7 rocker arms. Not much difference but uses his LOD intake.

or use adapters for his intake to an ls7 head.

I would look at a Frankenstein Stage 2 821/823 head or send your TFS255's to either FED or Greg Good and have them set them up. This is only because you have the LOD intake. LS7 is better and will make about 20-30hp more over a good LS3 head, but sometimes it's not worth it. JMO

One thing others have also touched on also is that Ls7 heads hold their power and torque better after peak compared to an ls3 style head.

I'm looking at a set of Trick Flow LS7 heads from Tony Mamo.

Next question, has anyone used those cbm adapters? I would like to run my LOD Speedworks intake with the LS7 heads.

This is exactly what I'm doing, I should be back running before you but who knows. I'll be testing that cbm adapter to mate my btr intake to mast ls7 heads

Going with his cam specs. The ported MSD is a great intake but tops out around 6300 on a 468 so it won't work for me in a quarter mile drag racing application. I will use my LOD Speedworks X1.

I think I saw 259 / 273 on a 113 +3 and like 690 lift. I thought I saw photo of a 253 / 264 on a 113 + 3 on a 390 lobe so 663 or 700 lift - maybe that was old cam.

Nice build. I have the ported MSD on my 440 with the 247/261 114+4. Pulls like a freight train. A little cam surge here and there down low which is to be expected..

Your 468 should be a beast!!
