Default 2005 Silverado L33 rebuild

I'm new here and hoping you guys can help. I'm having a machine shop rebuild my L33 for my 2005 silverado 4x4. I'm purchasing all of the internals and gaskets and was looking for advice. I'm wanting the engine to stay basically stock except for a cam upgrade and he tweaked the heads a bit for more flow. Who sells high quality rebuild kits including h beam rods. I've looked but everything seems to be geared towards a regular 5.3 and I know that the pistons were different between the lm7 and the L33. Id also appreciate any recommendations on which cam to go with. Id like a little rumble and more power without sacrificing reliably and driveability. Thanks in advance for any help

If you're putting a bit more cam in it, maybe you should mill the heads and add a bit of compression.

I'm not wanting to run the risk of having to use premium gas, it's my daily driver

Why wouldn't the factory rods & pistons be sufficient for such a mild build? Unless the rods are damaged or the piston skirts excessively worn... I'd clean the ring groves and send them. If you need an overbore I can understand pistons.

The engine had 287,000 miles on it and I pull my camper quite often. I'm changing them more for insurance than anything else, just wanted to put all new internals except for the crank.

You can keep the rods. Just put new bearings in them and go. Replacing rods is not normally part of a rebuild. They are a non-wearing part.

He's not a fan of them but it's not the only place I've heard it from. Several sources aren't fond of the powdered metal rods and talk about wrist pin issues. And at some point a charger may get added and I want to be sure the internals will handle it

All except LS7 and LS9, which use titanium, are powdered metal, and are quite strong.
Do a search on these forums to prove this.
