many of the the old timers on here believe if you add more oil flow or pressure a deeper pan is an absolute must. i used a stock pan, improved scraper, pickup tube about 3/8" from bottom, still had severe pressure loss at WOT......i then swapped pans, never got it back on that motor to see if problem is solved.
you can find pans on here from time to time. the stock k member needed some clearancing for the moroso tho. any 7-7.5 quart pan should be fine

I haven't looked into awhile but Vengeance Racing did a 2002 camaro SS 502ci build in GMHTP magazine years ago and that build consisted of a Canton oil pan to clear that crank. If anyone have that magazine the part number is in there.

But all are used with a stock style Windage tray and Factory style pan. That they sell or provide. 😉
Aftermarket pan and it's Windage tray will need a little modification. Nothing major but will Need.
👍

What is the LS1 cam equivalent of this 235/247 116 + 3 cam in a 434CID? I am just curious.

Just wondering why you chose such a small cam for a 434ci? I have a 243/250 .660 108 +2 in a 6.0 litre ls2, and i have it idling at 980rpm and it drives excellent. Even at very light part throttle the torque is better than the previous smaller cammed 5.7 i had.

I'm curious about the cam selection as well. I didn't go wild but didn't go too tame, in my opinion. 247/261 114+4, and mine idles awesome at 850. I am probably going to up it though just a hair.

I’m not used to big inch LS engines and all these cams look huge to me. Even the one Eric picked looks big to me and thought I wouldn’t go any bigger. But when DartV8r mentioned it compares to 222/230 in Ls1, that is small for such high flowing heads. When I get to build my 427 (block waiting in queue for Darton sleeves at RED) I will probably end up with solid roller equivalent of what 440Stroker has in his 440.
Eric plans to add supercharger later on, this may be a reason for the cam on small side with wide LSA.

Kooks 3 inch TD is loud. Are there any quieter 3 inch mufflers that could be used instead?
I got Blackheart 2.5 TD system just a year ago. Chose it, because it is on the quiet side. I like to be able to start the car at 5:30 am without upsetting neighbours and avoid unwanted attention from police.
I had loud exhaust system before and would not take the car to work for this reason. Didn’t drive it all that much. This will become an issue when my Darton sleeved engine is completed and ready to install.

Not sure on compression yet. I have to be able to run 91 octane in a pinch, but the flex-fuel sensor will tell the ECM to adjust timing for it. Not sure how much compression I can get away with. I will be going with whatever Tony recommends.
I would be happy with around 600 RWHP through my Dana 60.
I hope to keep the budget under $25k. That is for the longblock, headers, and fuel system.
