Yrs ago when I came here I came here to Learn about Cylinder Heads.

I found out There is No one Here that was Teaching Anything about a head and there Still isn't.


I did say, see 1 do 1... I'm trying to Copy Darin's work on the spare Head that hit the Water jacket. The Works done just hit a bad spot🤣
Duplicate it and don't hit the Water jacket 😹
It's said that where you spend your Time is Where your Heart is @.

On cylinder heads it's a Birther thing.

So I'd rather spend $ and make a head that would have Honestly have Built my 408 🤔 and the Ls3 top end that's Done. Nothing's Needed besides Poly lock nuts 🤫
So again
$3000 on SpeedMasters Ls7 heads + the $2300 that was stolen $ + $1100 new Money Spent on block work?

And I'd do it again to Learn what I did. You can Fool some of the people some of the time but not All the people all the time. You can make Hp with Pretty Much Anything if you know a good guy 👉Who's not bias = they're willing with the Knowledge to Port Anything you may have: a Brand nor manufacturer Has No Meaning it's Just a Cylinder Head and what's your Budget. 243's,Ls3's,Speed Masters, TFS, etc....

Smokey it's all about airspeed. Find out how much air an engine needs for a given rpm and get that air in as fast as possible. People spend 2300 bucks on heads because some would rather have a head that has far greater airspeed then a gm head. Yes a ported ls3 can make lots of peak power. That doesnt mean it will make more everywhere. And that's just WOT. Not everyone builds cars for max peak power. Fastest car is the one who can accelerate the fastest. Peak numbers are bragging rights that is all.

Also there are many here who attempt to educate. I have posted podcasts with darin Morgan, headgames and godbold many times.

Mamo was showed as a illustration that Copying isn't Some Bad thing and Anyone could Duplicate the thought or a Thought. We all Know factory Ls7 heads have Guide problems but if Fixed it's Possible. No BS.

Besides that look at most of you guys builds, they're Great and most are Similar because it's a great Thought.

But! I've looked @ few, rather a lot, R they not Damn Near a Carbon Copy of one another and Great.

I said do the same thing With any idea you may have on a person's build. Copy Someone's Baseline not Dependant on heads used Factory or aftermarket. Does one Have to just buy Mamo stuff to Duplicate or copy.

Let me know this ... anything after that is BS.

🤣 Who doesn't Know about Airspeed...

factory Ls6 243's with a 2.10 valve has Airspeed what's your point.

Guy says 243's and 600rwhp the 1st thing said is 8500 and it's gotta be something geared towards racing. But let's stick to air Speed.
Measley 408 with a thought out plan made 600 with a plastic intake. Well I'll be darned. With good compression for regular ⛽ gas.

I could learn a lot from some of the guys here but engine building is hands on IMO. I have a friend that amazes me as to his skill set and nobody better to learn from that I've yet to meet and he'll be the first one to tell you that he's a smart *** because truth be told he actually is.

Thing is ..... any Head can be made to make HP. Whether Factory or Aftermarket...it's a Copy of Factory 💩 with Updates.

And either will make Hp if thought out.

It wouldn't surprise me if a 243 could be massaged to make 650hp. There's more to it then just the cylinder heads though!

SSTx you may get this it's a Texas thing. That 408 with the 243's and 600rwhp?

Ok Texas Common sense being used. That build if Copied and thought out Couldn't we use TFS/AFR/ All Pro 235's out of the Box to get a similar result. Add porting 4 more if wanted?

Threads not derailed. Just a Common Sense problem of if you have a Build thought find one similar and Futher Development there idea as your Own. What's the cam spec's the thread was listed and used as a Example of the use of 243's and 600 rwhp with a 408.


We get back to the point of Anything is great if thought out. Find a build that's near what you may want...

When I look over what Mavn's doing for 408 build I'd say go with the LS3 heads but IDK there's some heavy hitting cathedral stuff out there. I been told to expect about 450rwhp from a 370 with 12cc domes, 238/246 cam and non-ported L92's that's not for street car oriented/roll racing scenarios but I'd like to think it will make more than that NA.

408 Hmmmmm. Figure if I add stroke it will make better Avg numbers? Copy and paste. I did add more cam and stroke with the same heads.

Duh, copy it and up the Ante? SpeedTrigger 402? Copy Ante Up? There thoughts used as my own.

600+ wheel is pushing over 700 crank. Not happening in a 408 street car. Unless you think street cars are like street outlaws. Aka race car that can be driven on street in limited capacity

hp/tq Differences on a 408 vs a 427 will be seen in Bore Differences not Rpm and Stroke Differences. Cam for either can and could be similar in terms of Duration. Same 4 inch arm being used.
