Hi everybody,
I finally got the Hooker to the track and it was good news/bad news. The bad news 1st: I broke the differential in the burnot box. Also the tuner had set my my rev limiter to 7k instead of 8k and neglected to tell me.
Now for the good news: everything in the suspension is new but it launched wonderfully and goes straight. The travel limiters did a great job and I only pulled the wheels about 6".
The truck hit the 7k rev limiter on the 1-2 shift, and then hit it again on the big end and I had to let out of it way before the traps, and still went 10.03 coasting through the lights @ only 124mph.
We are repairing the rearend now and adjusting the rev limiter to 8k so I can get a good full pass on it. The tuner is gonna data log it and then make some final tune adjustments.
This HPR 468 pulls through the midrange like nothing I've ever experienced before, I can't wait to see how far in the 9's she runs on a good full clean pass

Thank you sir. My goal was to be faster than the old motor without having to turn it as hard. I'm guessing mid to low 9's once it's all sorted out.

Now that you have driven car and have a time slip that was sort of a test run with some issues what do you think it will do once you get a few things fixed. Do you think you will break 135, 137 etc. mph

it normally ran 134 with the old engine so I expect more than that

Truck just didn't sound right to me and that voice in my head told me to pull the valve cover for a look. I found this mess, just two 1/4 mile passes and it's all got to come apart again......grrrrr!!!

I’ve been talking with Tony for 2 years about getting my heads back to him for intake valve upgrades, as I run the exact valves you are. I think this might persuade me to do just that. This sucks man! Cylinder wall ok?

I have to replace a sleeve and obviously a piston, repair the heads/replace all the valves.

Well, my ears just perked up. What's the backstory on the valves?

I have the "Hollow valve upgrade" with my Mamo 265 heads. Not sure exactly what valves, that's the whole description.

Mine are Ferrea hollow stem valves and they will be coming out of these heads!

Just curious, how much spring pressure were you running? A lot of the serious big boy solid roller set-ups I see just run solid valves and spring accordingly for the weight. Every set-up is different though, I probably would have built my combo same as yours. Hope it goes back together soon.

The hollow stem Ferrera intakes are a 98 gram hollow stem performance valve. No backstory really, as they are an upgrade to a solid stem intake because of weight. A big valve like this is heavy and hollow stems are common with a valve this size. I’ve ran the slop out of mine without issue. I’m likely going to go Ti intakes, which is an upgrade yet again, but very expensive, as they are bigger and heads have to e re-worked. First valve like this ive seen break a stem personally.

edit…meant to say first Ferrera valve like this (hollow stem) I’ve seen break a stem.
