Got the bellmouth setup done. Happy with how it all turned out. I can pop the mesh screen out quickly, if needed. Really wanted to build a box between the bellmouth up front and the halltech bridge over the radiator. Had a few things mocked up but assembly was really proving to be a pain and once again showed my need for a welder. Settled for the piping instead and we'll see how this does. The oval section was a necessary evil to get between the oil cooler and front structure without cutting into the car. I don't think it will matter much at WOT if there is a nice solid column of air stacked up at speed.

Few more things to take care of before I get it back on the ground and get to data collecting!

I also priced tillett seat. Good lordt are they pricey. Kirkey it is for this year.. Tillett will come later.

I did the same thing with the bellmouth at first. I made a 3d printed version that looks pretty good.

I'm slightly worried about edges of the bellmouth beating up the fascia. I did PPF that area and really soften the edges, but I'll probably snag one of your printed ones if it shows signs of wearing through the PPF.

Not vette related, but I got my firehawk back from paint and couldn't be happier (for once!). Hood needed a lot of work but it's like glass now. Better than factory by a long shot. Front fascia, headlight doors, hood, spoiler and hatch all got re-sprayed. Sail panel was removed and replaced with a pre98 panel and painted. Front fenders got blended. Rest of the car was just polished. Great compromise for a 70k mile car. Looks more like 10-20k miles now. Templeton Refinishing in Waterford Michigan is THE place for our 4th gen's. He lives and breathes these cars and he takes a ton of pride in restoring them.

Welp, the velocity stack did its job. 100kpa at 7500rpm should make things a bit happier. This was a 3rd gear pull, so hopefully 4th can see positive pressure. Don't mind AFR, threw fuel at it to be safe since I wasn't sure what the impact would be. This was also without the screen I made to keep debris out. With that in, best it could do was 96kpa, which was worse than having the haltech filter on.

Just need to wait for cooler weather at this point

Made more passes this weekend at the SCT event at US131 in Michigan. We had record breaking heat, which was NOT ideal for me.. or so i thought (the weather data posted in the one picture is what it was all dang weekend, just terrible). I entered the stick shift class.

Friday - Pass 1 - It's been awhile since i staged/launched for competition so i tried a new staging procedure and i royally screwed it all up. Didn't hit the 2 step and it went straight to 8192rpm where i left and obviously spun. Embarrassing all around, but thats why we test. So as bad as that was, it was a good thing

Friday - Pass 2 - US131 is a beautiful track, known for its prep. I decided to just make a pass this round and forget about reaction times/staging procedure. I set the 2 step to 6000rpm to see if i could really push it this weekend. No go, it spun right away. But admittedly, i probably had the clutch tamer set too aggressive as well.

Friday - Pass 3 - I need a clean, full hit. Lowered 2 step to 5100, added a little slip to the tamer and i was pretty confident this would be a solid pass. Ripped off a 1.3816 60ft, 9.804@143.86mph. Logs were beautiful. I made a couple small fueling changes loaded the tune and went to sleep happy.

Saturday - Pass 4 - HOT out. I am going to make a hit to the 60ft to make sure it sticks and i am good for eliminations and i need to make sure i practice my staging again. I leave, it bogs a bit harder than i liked but still felt really good. Said F it and made a full pass to see what my fueling/kpa data look like in the awful weather. 1.42, 9.81@142.95. I am shocked the car is trapping so well in the air. Good enough. Lets wait for eliminations.

Saturday - Pass 5 - Round 1 vs a Coyote stock-ish Fox body. I say ish because he said he's not a regular but he does race the class when he can. Nice guy and a fellow N/A racer, we knew it would be a great race with him running high 9s all weekend. I won lane choice but said let me go in first and you can have lane choice. The coyote stock guys kill the tree and i knew he was gonna leave on me, so i wanted the extra staging time and my car isn't fastest to get up on the 2 step. Rookie move, i didn't specify i wanted to be in the 2nd bulb first. He lets me go in first (i thought about double bulbing him here) and then bam, he double bulbs and im like MF'R! Get up on the 2 step, lights are on and i just let it go. he had a .12 reaction to my .39 (puke). He gets over a car out on me but i hit 1-2 harder than i have in awhile because it's game on now. I stop his pull and now im chasing that car down. Hit the remaining shifts and i cross the line 0.02 before him. Amazing race! I was 90% sure i pulled it off but i rolled down the window in the shutdown and we were thumbs up'ing before even turning off. Get to the booth, 1.3833, 9.6999@144.18 and the win. My jaw dropped and it wasn't over the win, i couldn't believe it went 9.6s at 144 in that air! i was in shock! He stopped by my pit and we high fived and he just couldn't believe the win margin was 0.02. I told him it was a PB for me and he just shook his head and laughed.

Great video of the pass here
https://www.youtube.com/live/Yqp60wI...AS047cS&t=2732

Saturday - Pass 6 - Finals - They sat us until all classes were in their finals which was nice cus it cooled down some but the DA remained equally awful. The guy was driving a D1X procharged C7 - built LT1, faceplated 7 speed. He was going 159 in his roll racing class, i was severely outgunned but he was struggling to 60ft and going ~9.5. Plus we were only pitted a few spots away from each other so we ended up hanging and talking cars all weekend. i told him i was going to double bulb him in the finals if we get there. My only shot was to get way out in front and pray he botches the launch trying to run me down.

Well the time is now and we line up. I tree him (.2025 to his .2765) but not as well as i was trying too and i pull of my best 60 of the weekend 1.3701. I held him off until the 8th mile but he came around me hard and the win. It ended up PB run for him so that was awesome to hear. No shame in the little NA car making him work for it! We agreed to 60/40 pot split too, so that was cool. We were just happy it was an all vette stick shift final.

The bellmouth/new intake path REALLY woke this combo up. It officially weighs 3150 with me and a half tank of fuel too, so it's not a tin can! I am making a trip to dragway 42 this sunday, hopefully is much cooler air! So we'll see how that goes. Either way, can't wait to faceplate my transmission and keep pushing for sub 9.50 runs! I think my original goal of 145+ is just good air away too. Super happy with the combo overall as its been dead nuts reliable. Zero maintenence all weekend, just checked the oil and put fuel in it.

Are you doing burnouts in first gear? I didn't see any tire smoke at all.

Congrats on making the finals! Putting in a ton of laps and no issues is fantastic.

I haven't seen a difference in the performance of these pbr's with a longer burnout. I just light them up in first, stay light on the brakes and keep em going until they start hooking and push through. I'm a massive fan of these things.

I'm glad you're gonna give it another try before the season is over, hopefully you get better weather on Sunday and sneak into the 9.50s

You're gonna have to find a different camera man for this one though 😂

Thanks! All good though, i won't get it on the car this year regardless. But is funny pulling up to the line with that thing hiding in the grill, people always double take and look confused.

I am likely pulling the trans after this weekend anyway. I know there is some significant ET on the table going faceplated, so I'm anxious to get that done. Gonna do my best to officially clip 145 as it is though
