Welp. Machine shop called. The supplied “.660” springs supplied by Frankenstein won’t work with my combo. Not enough clearance at coil bind between the coils. He did have a spare set of BTR Max RPM .660’s he mocked up and they were sufficient. He has a set on order for me so hopefully this week or next is when I can pick up this longblock!

I’m ready to pull the trigger on a 6L90e so once I get longblock I will get that ordered up. Then giving Circle D a call for a 6F-PX converter!

Anyone know ballpark cost on widening wheels? I want a sleeper setup on the street using the factory rally style wheel. But 17x8 is all they have. Wanting to go 17x10 on rear. Steel rally wheel

Are the rear fender wells tubbed? Obvious question but not always considered.
10's (or actually the tires on them...) won't fit inside stock fenders.

On a truck, 305/45/17 will clear. Leaf spring will have a bracket on front to reangle leaf spring to clear the tire. I may have to roll fenders, but that is easy to do.

Few updates.

With Boyd gas tank, I sold off the Holley assembly. It was intended for a stock tank so configuration was near impossible without dropping some coin on a CNC ring adapter. Found a Holley 12 bolt flange assembly that will work great with the Boyd tank.

Circle D 6FPX converter ordered up last week. Also ordered fuel system today. I ended up going -8 feed and -6 return. Saves me some room for upgrades later.

I’ll post pictures when stuff starts showing up!

Thank you! I’ll start posting some good pictures when I start digging into it!

Always loved the TBSS. I really wanted a 2WD one for awhile but could never find one. Hard to find them in good shape nowadays

Anybody run the Improved Racing 6/8/10L transmission cooler adapter with built in thermostat? Figured it would help when driving around until everything gets up to temp. I plan to run a 40k cooler with this.

Not sure if it’s exactly needed, but I ran a cooler years ago on my 06 single cab and noticed it wouldn’t kick into OD for awhile when cold. Granted, I won’t drive this truck in late fall/winter months but may help a little

Fuel system has arrived! Doing -8 feed, and -6 return for future upgrades as well.

Also, Holley 12 bolt flange assembly arrived also. Currently has a 450 pump. May leave it in and see how it holds up. I will have to redrill holes for the Holley assembly on the tank, but won’t be hard to do!

Few more goodies rolled in this week. BTR valve covers and ATI super damper.

BTR valve cover will make it easy to route catch can setup BUT also because I have a pretty cool design in my head to have laser engraved onto them.. working with a local shop to make it happen!

10% UD on the ATI. Anyone know why they don’t offer a 20-25% UD on the truck/camaro spacing? The only vehicles I saw for 20-25% UD was 14-16 SS, and 04-06 GTO?

Few marketplace finds this week.

Ridler 606’s. 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear. Didn’t anticipate to get wheels yet, buf saved $700 compared to a new set. These will be my street combo to run

6l90e 2WD finally found for a decent price. Good running trans. It has been rebuild but low mileage unit. Only reason they were rebuilt was normal maintenance when torque converter needed replaced.

Project will officially start on Christmas!

When running the e85, raise the compression for free power IMO..

I’ve already answered this same statement above. Not everyone wants to come out of the gate on a new territory of power and build with 13-14+ compression. This is still more a street driven truck than a trailer queen track only truck. I wasn’t looking for every ounce of power from get-go. I want some safety in it for pump E85. I’m not saying I won’t look for more power later, but I’m sure this combo as-is will be a handful and a learning curve already

Do you have any dyno numbers yet? I should be starting my 418 build soon. I went the cheap route on heads and intake, so mine will probably make less hp. I think it's going to be real torquey though.

No results yet. Still finishing up longblock things before installing. ATI Super Damper is holding me up. Pulling the old deivetrain within the month and will get started. Hopefully have some idle noises around Spring

LS swap has officially begun! I’ve waited for this day since my dad brought this truck home back in 2016.

Plan of action is going to be to remove factory harness, drain fluids, and pretty much just go for it and remove the longblock and transmission in the next 2 weeks. No luck on selling the stock 5.7/60e so I’ve taken multiple videos and it’s getting pulled. I wanted to leave it in for running and driving purposes but I’ve been ghosted by 5-10 ppl on days we were suppose to meet. Not going to let it slow me down.

Update Day 1:

Harness is 99% disconnected. Only thing left is looking at underbody. I have the 2 PRNDL connectors disconnected and 2 O2 sensors. Need to check for anything else. Everything else is disconnected and ready for removal

Overall not a bad day. Learning as I go but I have a ton of reading/learning for years leading up to this day finally. So, I have a decent idea on what to expect already.

Still unfortunately waiting on my Circle D converter. On week 8/9 and was told 4-6. Not a big deal. Can I ask how many of you had to hone the ATI hub before installing onto your crankshaft?

Anyways, here is some more pictures!
