Yeah I have no idea there.......I think you are right on the money with calling them. Although, and I am just guessing here, isn't a blower cam slightly milder then an aggressive street (N/A) cam? So that would work in your benefit (providing it is correct).

whats the difference between the LS2 aluminum block and LQ9 iron block? Are they basicially the same inside and out except that one is iron and the other aluminum?

I have a 71 Chevelle that is in need of a new motor. I am interested in a iron 6.0L w/ the callies crank and rods. I want to build something low compression 8.5:1, so I can turbo or supercharge it down the road. This will be a carbureted motor using this manifold: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/man_chevy_ls1.html
I am hoping for 500hp NA until I buy a turbo when the bank replenishes. What is the going rate on this short block? Do you think there is anything else I need for 700hp?

The 500 crank HP might be hard to attain with 8.5:1 compression. Even with great heads a healthy hydraulic or solid cam, it might just be touching on the 400hp mark. Good idea on keeping the compression low however for your future endeavors. Sounds like it will be nice in a Chevelle.

Its about $3600 for the iron block 402. Then add $380 for a nice custom cam. $115 for a decent timeing chain. Which has to be bought seperatly. All and all with good tuner and decent heads and good cam upper 400 to somewhere in the 500rwhp on motor shouldnt be to hard. Its about 80ish pounds heavier which is the only down side but its not a huge deal. Also, Kris J. has been really good to work with.

I sent you a pm!! We would be happy to build you an iron 402. We have JE pistons on the shelf that we had made just for our turbo motors. They have a -34cc dish and are only .002 out of the hole. We also had them built with a 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 ring grove to accept our Akerly & Childs "Hell Fire" ring package. Let me know if I an get one started for you!!

I wanted to let you guys know that I will be gone on Hot Rod power tour from Thursday the 2nd and will be back at work on the 13th. I am hoping to be able to get online from time to time to answer pm's. When I get back I plan to post all of our options that we have for our 402 and what the prices are. If anyone plans to go on the tour or can make any of the stops be sure to come by the Flowmaster booth. Well guys I'm back and I'm glad. Nothing like 4,800 miles round trip in a weeks time Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know that we have yet a few more options for you. We have just recieved a pallet full of Lunati cranks and there NEW "Pro Mod" LS1 rods! One or both would make a very nice upgrade! We have also used these parts to complete our "boost" motor along with our custom JE pistons. Here are the specs on that short block............
