That is according to the newest Motor Trend that arrived at my house today. Looks like many prayers were answered after all. Price is a little over my budget for now.

At the rate of the information on the Z06 is coming to us, i wouldnt doubt ALL the info. on the car will be relased. I think we ALL just watched a video of the new 427 being BUILT. I cant believe this. Like a month and a half ago we were still fighting over whether the new Z06(if there was even going to be one) was gonna be a 6.4 or a 7.0 LOL...........

I am greatly concerned GM has created another ZR1 ( a bad thing as far as sales go)
They have priced it out of the average Vette/Z06 buyer's price range, and underpriced it as far as having credibility with "supercar" buyers.
It's already got a strike against it for being American. Even as good as the Viper is, it still lacks world recognition, as it is brutish vehicle.
It's unfortunate, as I think it will be hands-down the best car dollar for dollar in the world.

I agree, people with 75k to spend on a car would I think go for a Porshe for the most part. I love the z06, but for around 75k, I could think of other cars to buy.

If your a peacock that likes spreading it's tail, yes go buy a Porsche.
If you want performance, the Z06 is king.
I could buy a Porsche, but there is no way I would spend 50% more for an inferior performance car IMO. (Test drove the new 911S). My peacock days are over.
I'll be visiting my GM dealership for a deposit on a C6 Z06 this weekend....

I wouldn't trust Motor Trend too avidly. Anything they say more then 2 months in advance is as good as a rumor started by a member on here. They are really just making credible looking guesses. They guessed the LS7 was going to be a 6.3 Liter. They also overestimated the price of the new Mustang GT by a good margin when they first got the low-down. I'd say there's still a good amount of hope for a cheaper Z06.

Maybe my above post wasn't very clear. THERE IS NO CONFIRMATION OF PRICE AT THIS TIME. The Motor Trend article was strictly a guesstimate on their part and it was clearly stated in their article. I've seen enough typos and misinformation in MT articles over the years to take their estimates with a grain of salt. Just to illustrate the lack of official info out there, Car & Driver predicts a price of $62.5k (whom I tend to trust the most since they pretty much nailed the original C5 ZO6 and the original C6 prices) and Autoweek states $65k. All are estimates. So, let's please wait until GM releases the ofiicial info before we make like Chicken Little.

All price guesses are wild speculation. I've heard $75K, and I've heard $63K. Neither one has any more credence than the other at this point....

CarsRFun- if you want to play that game, you could also take the money that you'd spend on an '04 Z06, buy a Fox-body Mustang, and outrun all of them in any performance category you'd like. That's not the point. Comparing a modded car to a stock car is comparing appes to oranges.
Oh, and for what it's worth, even if you paid say, $45k for a used '04 Z06, getting the brakes up to '06 Z06 specs would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k. So you're up to $50k; now build a dry-sumped 427 w/ titanium rods and what are essentially C5R heads... even if you use a sleeved block (instead of a C5R block), you're still looking at (at LEAST) $8k-$10k in parts, not to mention machine work. So now you're up to $58k. Add a clutch that can take the power from the 427, and there's another $1k. Add the differential/transmission cooler for $1k. Upgrade the suspension (I'll use the factory T1 suspension for comparison) and you're looking at another $2k or so. Add some aero bits to keep lift down at high speed for another $1k (for the kit and painting). $63k so far. Beef up the transmission for another $500, get a bigger radiator for another $500. Let's say that you get a deal on LS1 Edit and dyno time for $500. Up to $64.5k now, and that's assuming that you have done all the work yourself... and you STILL can't take it to the dealer if the engine develops a knock, or if there is any other problem with the powertrain. Also, depending on where you live, you could have a hell of a time getting it inspected.
Don't get me wrong, I love to modify my vehicles, but let's be honest... any time you start messing with something, the reliability almost ALWAYS goes down.
