Yes, that was me. What we did for the pilot bearing today was just an old trick one my my friends told me to do. We took the bearing and brazed the outside with tin solder. So now it has another layer of metal around it and should help it snug itself right in there. Will let you know in the morning.

Did the brazeing thing work?
It worked freaking perfect. It just needed a few thousandths more and wammo, tight fit.

What happens of the brazing falls off or something happens and the pilot bearing comes out... there goes is drivetrain. And your responsible. At least if u let ur customer know and he doesnt want to wait for a new crank he can sign a waiver.
If it was my motor I would rather have the right crank specs.

My customers know everything I do with their cars, matter of fact he was here so I could show him.
Adding tin for fitment is not something new for builders and has been done for years as a fix. When you use solder or tin, you are applying at an extramley higher heat than what the crankshaft will see. So no need to worry.
I also think waiting for another motor is not something he is wanting to do at this point. The motor is fully built and ready to go in. Thats when we ran into the pilot bearing issue. Trust me, its tight in there, I had to use a mallet and an installer to get it in, so I consider it like stock now.
