I was hoping we could compile a list of the components and part numbers for the balance of the items needed to make our LS7s run. We have been focused on the PCM and I think a lot of effort is being made on that front which will come to market in next 60 - 90 days. However I am trying to assemble the "other stuff" that we need to acquire to make this engine run in the car. Starter list:
Mass airflow sensor
Starter
Dry sump tank
Dry sump lines
Dry sump vent/purge system (included w/ tank?)
Dry sump dip stick (included w/ tank?)
Idler puller (LS7 specific?)
Alternator brackets (LS7 specific?)
Engine covers
Drive by wire computer
Drive by wire pedal assembly
Coolant system diagram (which one goes where and how to properly fill it? Any vent system like LS6?)
Oil system diagram (found a good one at corvette forum from someone on the list
Most of you have probably tried like me only to discover you can not buy the manual yet so someone from GM is going to have to throw us a bone. I KNOW I am missing some items. Please jump on board!

The factory lines use a quick disconnect that is patented by Visteon. You can use an aftermarket tank but you need to connections to the pan to make it happen. Otherwise you will need to cut and weld on the pan which sounds like no fun. My plan is to try and fit the tank and lines intact. Otherwise I am going to cut the ends off the lines and move things around. The factory tank is the hot ticket if you can fit it. Great design. I think it will fit in the inner fender area with oil fill peaking out so you can top it off.
Part numbers anyone?

Well, on the engine that I picked up, the pan has plugs in the holes. Didn't pull them until today, but I thought I had seen a picture of the pan with threaded holes. I know the first mod I am going to make... Pull the pan and weld some -12 AN fittings on there.
There's a tank made by ARE that is close in size (25.5"x6") and, with an aluminum breather catch can, K&N filter, and mounting bracket assembly, it's about $630.00. Comes with -12 fittings. It's total capacity is 2.5 gallons (air and oil).
More pictures of the LS7 today...

Thanks for the info Scott. Looks like a nice piece.
Our teardown starts tomorrow!
Entire drivetrain coming out - gonna be a long day. Going to do some test fitments of the tank and LS7 pan in the car to see how much fab will be required.
Our teardown starts tomorrow!

Learned something interesting about the oil fill cap on our LS7. The factory sends the cap wire tied to the fuel rail. This cap is designed to be installed and never removed! The correct fill/add is through the dry sump tank. When you install that cap you are comitted to never removing it. If you do the plastic locking tangs will drop into the valve cover.
Great info on the oil lines. I think I am going all GM on this if it fits. Has anyone tried to tuck these away in the fender well yet?

I have another question about the GM lines. If anyone has a set, how long are they and what is the ID?
Thanks,
