LS2 Timing Chain Dampner
Does the LS2 block have a different timing chain dampner than the ls1/ls6? If so, does anyone have the part #? I have heard that it is much cheaper than the ls1/ls6 dampner. Can anyone confirm this?

Checked my 2000 LS1 block last night. The LS2 timing chain damper WILL NOT work. The LS2 must have a revised casting to accept the narrow 1.762” bolt pattern damper. My LS1 block WILL accept the 2.187” damper IF I drill and tap the block.

I figure I'll build a stroker motor BEFORE my new timing chain stretches.

GM designed the LS1 for the damper but decided (at the last minute) not to use it. The tooling for the damper existed, so to pay for the tooling the part piece price is high.
My understanding is the LS2 uses the factory damper. Since thousands of LS2's have this, the part piece price is MUCH lower.
