Well, i finally finished the Shirl Dickey-built 418cid LS2 motor install into a 2001 ZO6. With nothing but 80 miles on the motor and rough tuning, it dyno'd north of 500rwhp with stock LS6 intake and TB on very first pull!!!!!! Very nice!! And the power under the curve- well, use your imagination....it is unreal. AND, I discovered an issue after these initial dyno results: too long pushrods had WAY too much preload on the lifters. I had the heads milled down after I did some comb chamber port work to match the new motor and get desired CR. Well, this was probably the 3rd cut on these heads in the lifetime this client has had them (stage 2 ported LGM LS6 heads). Even with the 7.350 pushrods we had way, way too much preload that I discovered only after swapping back in the stock rockers for testing purposes. Turns out we needed a custom 7.300 pushrod. Wow, what a difference that made in overall tuning and power!! Anyway.....I am looking for the best price on:
1. FAST 90mm intake
2. LS2 TB and harness adapters
3. fully ajustable roller rockers, preferrably that fit under stock valve covers.
Let me know who has the best prices going on right now. ramjudd@comcast.net
Thanks in advance!

PS- Big kudos to Shirl Dickey and his awesome 418cid LS2 motor. Contact him or me for more info on it. Compared to the price of the 402 LS2s out there, this motor definitely will give far more bang for buck for the extra money. Anyway, I will be making a separate posting about this motor of his after I finish tuning it, then again after we get the FAST intake, TB and roller rockers on. STay tuned.

Shirl has helped me off and on ,online here helping me build a aluminum LS2 418cid. The motor is now shortblocked with every thing on it but the heads ,Ive have a lot of clearance problem but Shirl told me every thing that need clearanced and how much i need in those spots that needed it, Im waiting on my heads to get here from Texas Speed (PRC) Dart stageIII heads with 2.100" int & 1.60" ext valves 59cc chanbers and a five axas cnc full port job. 12.5.1 compression,Crane 250-266/650-650/112 +5 ,and Comp Pro Mag roller rockers. just to name a few thinks. I hope i can get close to your power range
Im glade there is some body else out there with the new LS2 418, that just about every body said could not be built from a aluminum LS2 4.030" bore .Shirl Dickey is the man and a very nice guy
Congats on your motor ,sound like it going to be a real beast
, keep me updated on your motor. Are you going to run any nitrous on it ? Im going to run a 300 shot profogger on mine.

Jason- thanks for the quotes but youre pretty tall on the FAST intake pricing. BYUNSPEED has them for (deleted). Yes, for a 90MM FAST intake. Hard to beat that price.
Nate- hey buddy!! This motor is not done making power by a long shot. Like I said, I had too much preload on the lifters and when I dropped in the shorter/correct pushrods, feels like we picked up a lot more. I wouldnt be surprised if we're 520rwhp now. Then once we get the FAST and LS2 TB on, we should easily be north of 550rwhp. AND, I need to emphasize something- the POWER UNDER THE CURVE. it is unreal. You'll crap yer pants with this torquey-*** motor.
Randy- with your Shirl Dickey 418, your awesome cam and heads- there is no reason why you dont make the same or more power than this motor. Be sure you have a good intake and TB and long tube headers, no cats. A FAST intake or a ported LS2 intake + an LS2 TB are a must to let this motor breathe. The final key to your engine success will be tuning. Who is doing your tuning? Too bad you cant get the car to me so I can tune it. Yes, I know what you are going through with the clearance issues with fitting the windage tray and LS1 oil pan. But once you make the necessary grinding and shimming, all is good.
If any of you need pointers or more info, contact me at ramjudd@comcast.net or just contact Shirl. His 418 is, hands down, one of the best bang for buck LSx mods I've had the opportunity to install and tune. Plus, Shirl is one of the greatest minds in LS1 territory and the NICEST man I know. He's a bad *** for sure!

Expect about ~25RWHP after the conversion. YMMV.

I know Joe Herrington made 65 RWHP with a switch from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8, and swapping a FAST90 in place of an LS6 on a 422.
