Default Warhawk 12 deg head breaking news

For those who have asked; the Warhawk head can be made compatable with the GMPP LSX block in the following manner.
Using a Gm head gasket, place it on the Warhawk head and mark the location of the 12 o'clock studs and simply drill the head. The outer corners are the same on the GM and World heads as are the other stud locations on our head.

So the head has to be drilled by a machine shop?

And is the width of hole super significant?

Does this mean the GM 6 bolt head will be able to bolt up to the Warhawk block?

On the GM block it appears that the head would be threaded, on the Merlin the block is threaded. The Merlin head should have ample material available to tap since it is a bolt down boss.
The GM head on the Merlin would be harder as you would need to drill and cap the intake port roof as well as putting a clearance hole in the floor of the port.
To put the Merlin head on the GM block, you would want the head with no extra holes. I would think this will be a common sale for world as you would want this config for 4 bolt block use also.

In order to avoid mishaps and provide a clear view, I've asked Warhawk 1 to provide a CAD cross-section of the area and I'll post it here. The depth of the hole is critical because if it hits our counterbore they'll be a leak into the port. The drawing will clear this up.
I advise you contact GMPP on their site or their rep here and ask about their heads on our block. We have no experience with that.

ram
Just to be clear-ours will be "as cast", we're not doing CNC at this time.

kurt says it perfectly. Our head gets threaded and the depth of the threaded hole is important.

MerlinPro, Is the countersink in the floor of the port cast in or machined? Can you buy the head without the access in the roof of the port?
Can't wait to see this stuff run next summer!

Kurt,
The counterbore is cast-in as is access in the roof.

what is the status of the cnc porting on these heads? How about a tall deck intake?

Here is the CAD I promised, courtesy of Warhawk 1 our guru.
You are looking at Worlds LS7X head on GM's LSX block.
It works this way: our head gets drilled by using a GMPP head gasket which gives the location of the hole on our deck. Our head has a cast counterbore which means the distance from the floor of the counterbore to the face of the head's deck can vary. You (or machinist) must measure from the floor of the counterbore to the deck face. Drill and tap the hole to accept the GM stud which I believe is 8mm. Come no closer than .125 to the counterbore. The fastener is shown on the bottom of the stud, under the GM block deck.
If you're not equipped to do this precisely, go to a professional. The head counter bore and drilled hole is on the upper right, the new stud in the correct location is below it and to the left.

More than that: cavity in port=suck air. Welding and contouring the port floor would not be out of the question. A plug at the least.

hope this isn't too much off topic, but have you guys determined if an ls7 intake will bolt up and match to your LS7X head?
