UPDATE:after a few more dyno pulls we did manage to raise the vacuum reading from .7 to 1.0 in. vacuum.and gained a couple hp but nothing to talk about. We are just fighting a losing battle with this intake restriction.Going to sawp out the cam and see what happens-probably nothing great due to the intake, but we have high hopes

No problem, I'm sure it will drive out north of 550/520

Nice work to this point Shawn. I'm thankful you're taking the time to flog on Kevin's setup. Your findings are similar to what our LS7 customers are seeing. Steady pressure build up in the intake. This situation is very frustrating but with time and R&D can be worked around to a small degree. Kind of like a Cup style restrictor plate engine. Camshaft accordingly.
Kevin, the torque under the curve is going to be really impressive. In due time I'm sure better intake systems will become available. There's a big market for an intake that uses "outside the box" technology. Hang tight. It'll happen. Meanwhile enjoy your "gentleman's cruiser".

See5 remember these heads work better on the bigger bore and especially 427 so the power gains aren't just from displacement. Looking forward to the progress Kevin. Its good to see you posting up preliminary numbers and being realistic about the gains and mods being planned.
cheers

Shawn says he consistently sees about 75hp difference between their engine and chassis dynos. That puts us a 530/515 now. Shawn said a few more pulls on Monday didn't show much improvement. A subtle cam change should net some more and Shawn firmly believes he can make 20-30 more on the engine dyno with the FAST - all of which should make it to the rear wheels. 550/520 on a great driver would be great. As I said, anything over that is a bonus. Nothing being done is at the expense of drivability. That remains the primary priority over peak numbers.
I was thinking it would take 650 to make 550whp? You have an auto or stick...stock gears?

That explains it. For 550 in a stalled/geared car I'd suspect you need 650 or so. My car seems to have a 17% loss since stock. The math comes out on my 416ci as well. I think the motor was around 600 because it put down 500whp.

I guess we can expect some more dyno numbers tomorrow afternoon/evening ? Good luck on finding more power without having to sacrifice drivability ...... Thats should be everyones goal that doesn't track there car. Stock like drivability, but can get wild with a stab of the accelerator !! Good luck Kevin !!
