I thought that you might want to see what happens when a new Z06 breaks a valve spring..was surprised when the piston and head had as little damage as they did..but the valve gouged the cylinder wall and ruined the block..no repairs...replacement engine is going in...![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)

Bending beats hell out of breaking. I've seen valve heads pay multiple visits to every cylinder when they snap off at RPM's. I thought the 427 block had pressed-in sleeves versus cast-in-place. As long as it didn't mess anything else up, it should still be a candidate for a sleeve, IMHO.
At any rate, sure sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Not my misfortune sir..it is just a car in the service department for warranty work..I thought you all would enjoy the photos...my engine has dual springs... the LS7 block is like any other LS series engine..no pressed in sleeves..the number one cylinder has a gouge in the cylinder wall that is not repairable..as I said in the first post GM will replace the engine..

The LS7 like any mass produced piece of machinery is made of metal parts..some parts have flaws and fail..that is the reasone that new cars have a warranty...drive by a rolls royce, lexus, bently, ect. dealer sometime...those service departments will be full of cars in for service work..nothing is bullit proof.. If man can built it ... it can break..

slt200mph, there are a lot of misinformed folks out there - Corvette Fever, Corvette Museum, Corvette Racer, Super Chevy, etc. have articles that state "unique engine block with larger 104.8-mm (4.125-inch) bores and pressed-in cylinder liners". One calls 'em sleeves, but I take it they're referring to the same thing. Are the sleeves cast-in-place and liners installed later?
At any rate, I totally agree - anything mechanical is subject to failure at any time. I had a buddy that had an engine built with all premium parts and it snapped a rod on it's 3rd dyno pull with no spun bearings or other contributing factors that could be found. That's why I hate flying!!!

I don't know about your dealership but when I was working at mine we had 1 guy that worked on corvettes no matter what the problem was from interior to motor work he did it. Well, to get to the point a customer came in and was complaining about a trans noise in his lt4 vette really nothing was wrong with the trans. It was a very loyal customer of the dealer and they replaced the trans and the old trans didn't go back to gm and the tech ended up with it and sold it on ebay. So, nothing made it back to gm for analysis.
