Doing a build close to Burgers (l92 heads Lq9) got some ???
I got my heads a while ago and they are bone stock, I got stock rockers, scored a used TSP 233/239 cam, Gm carb intake, Holley HP 950, Applied nirous technology plate system, and a Mez electric water pump already. I am still trying to find a decent priced LQ9 short block. Here are my questions:
I know there are two MSD's for the carb set ups. One is MUCH better than the other. What one is the good one? One has 3 poor preset timing curves and the other is supposedly programable.
What pushrods and lifters should I run? Part number and price would be a help too.
How much should I pay for a used running LQ9 short block?
Whats the part number for the ARP rod bolts for the LQ9?
Do I need a different oil pan? This is going in an Iroc with a powerglide. Tubular K member if that helps at all.
Does anyone know of a decent sized header for the swap? Only headers I can find are the Hawks headers and they are rather small for what I want to do.
Thanks a lot guys, any help is appreciated.

If your talking short blocks LQ4 has dished pistons LQ9 has flat tops.
LQ9 6.0 (364) truck/SUV Escalade & Silverado SS 345/380 10.08 compression
LQ4 6.0 (364) truck/SUV GMC/Chevrolet Fullsize 300/360 9.41 compression

So the rods and crank are all the same? MAYBE a piston swap can be in my budget but I HIGHLY doubt it. The only thing I really wanted to do to the bottom end was a simple rod bolt swap. How much are you guys seeing LQ4 and LQ9 bottom ends going for these days?

i hope to this weekend, last weekend i didnt have the line lock finished or the pinion angle set.
the tune is horrible and at the moment im running open 3in y pipe since my true duals wont fit with the body mounted torque arm.
so im gonna run it for a baseline and then redo my exhuast+better tune and a few odds and ends to see how much i pick up
the track is very unprepped as well and isnt flat but im not driveing 2 hours to a nice track when i have no trailor incase something broke

I'd like to know if anyones done this to an LQ4, kept the stock crank and replaced the pistons and rods themselves. How much did it cost? If you did it yourself what tools were involved? Did you have to resize the rod ends? etc, etc.

man, have you heard of "how to rebuiled GM LS series engines"? by Chris Werner from GMHTP...
Anyways, he believes the stock rods are indeed stronger then people think them to be.. and that pistons are the weak point in the rotating assembly.. upgrade the stock rod bolts and run some forged pistons and let us know!
