PSJ,

You mean like an 8.5 inch wide slick?
I don't know ANYONE that uses that size tire?
Especially in the LSx world.

You know TT5 and 275 DR is the Small Tire class King.

There is some outlaw 8.5 stuff down this way. Class is running 5.50-5.60s 1/8th mile on a 26x8.5 slick. Badass for sure.

Yeah, I dont know of any LSX guys running Outlaw 8.5. I remember a guy on YellowBullet awhile back who was building an LS7 based Mustang Coupe for 8.5 racing, but I believe he was on the western coast.

Two good friends of mine are partners on an Outlaw 8.5 car. Im at the track with them just about every weekend helping out between rounds and whatnot. It runs pretty good too.

Most of the stuff we run is limited, so we rarely get the chance to turn the thing loose.. Went 5.24 @ 134 last year, thats with the old motor, two kits and 3150LBS. This year, so far its been 5.34 @ 132 on a single stage plate @ 3200LBS. Been in the teens a few times on ten fives.

And heres a little ride along with my GoProHD camera..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgJWtWTpBBs

But in the end, its a Mustang with a small block ford.. So it wont be at this race, lol.

You guys are all correct. I know 8.5 isn't huge in the LSX world, but I wanted to do something a little different - especially since the 8.5 class is gaining such momentum.

As of right now, I have one guy that should be dipping into the 5's and I can't wait to see it. Kurt Urban sent me an email the other day, so I'm crossing my fingers that his guy decides to run the class, too.

I was really hoping to hear from more people, but at this point, I'm opening the doors to anyone. Come Friday, if you have a set of 8.5's on - lets open up the field and have some fun! That said, first come will be first served.

BillyBob750, I've seen that car all over youtube and it is sick! Also, that guy you're referring too with the LS powered Mustang...he lives down the street from me and still trying to put it together. He's getting closer by the day and I'm pretty excited to check it out.

Also, kudos to Pro Stock John for posting up for our cause. Thanks bud!

Hey Billybob,

not sure if you are referring to my silver hatchback, but I am still putting it together. It is LS powered with a Jerico. I have talked to Eric quite a bit and you will see the car in GA @ the ORTC at the National War 8.5.

Now that Henry has opened to rules to any LS powered vehicle, I wish my junk was done... LS Fest should be a badass event and the Chevy High 8.5 class is going to open some people's eyes.

Is there an 8.5 inch slick that is eligible with a 16" rim?
Or is it like 275 DR, there are no 275 DR's for 16" rims either.
(I have a C5 ZO6 with 16 CCW's)

I don't believe anyone offers a 26x8.5 for 16's.
