Default Thanks FLP

Got my headers installed yesterday. Quality work and quality product. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> If your car is lowered like mine gentlemen you can't go wrong with this setup. Drove around last night to check it out. No banging or scraping and man does it sound sweet, with the cutout open. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
Thanks Again. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Yep,

I picked up my car last Friday from them. Drove home all the way up Route 59 to Fox Lake. Not a single bang heard from under the car. Fit and finish is perfect. Yesterday checked all the bolts. Headers bolts where still tight (could not turn them at all) V-clamps had to be tightened a little but that was it. This is pretty normal after a few heat cycles, checking all the bolts.

FLP does a great job. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Make sure you do a search on a few LS1 sites to find out all the problems to look for on FLPs. Some of them are downright scary. Some folks don't have problems, good luck... I hope you are okay, but you should know there have been alot of problems with this brand. The one to really keep an eye on is your oil overheating from the headers being too close to the filter. I have seen filters that have gotten so hot they have severely warped and burned... almost as though they had melted. Definately not good for engine life!
Good luck

I also would like to that Mitch and the crew at FLP, I picked up my SS today, headers and subframe connectors installed. I also did not have any banging or clearence problems. Mitch even set me up with plenty of nice pictures of the install. I will try to get the pics up tomorrow and post a link.

It seems like a lot of people have *minor* problems with the FLPs, but I've heard of very few people with major problems. In fact, on the filter 'burning', I only heard of one guy that happened to.
I had no problems on my 99, and some minor floorboard/kmember banging on my 02 (same headers). That's the price you pay for having such good ground clearance though...
good luck!

If you do I saw it at FLP up on the lift. I checked out your car and decided to go with the same setup. So far I am very happy. FLP also last year did the 4.10's in my car and I haven't had any problems.

Yep, that was my car. Mitch and the guys at FLP are great to work with. Plus their location is nice in the fact they have some roads you can immediately try out the car on.

If so you make an intelligent and compelling arguement with that statement... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
No need to argue with me anyway. I just speak the truth. If you want to make remarks, go around and answer all the posts complaining about "minor", "major", whatever you want to call 'em problems with $1300+ dollar headers. You shouldn't see posts with any kind of problems when you pay that much for something as simple as headers.

This is performance.. there are problems.. i would think if this is a major issue the oil filter would be handled by now... compare any of the headers out there for the F body routing is pretty much the same.. not a whole lot of room from one to the other... i would have to ask WHY did this guys oil filter get baked? was he running a power adder and fryed his cats which over heated the headers due to back pressure? was he playing with LS1 edit and leaned his car out which created a hot header setup? did he put a cam in too far retarded which creates high exhaust temps... the problem with your logic is the headers were to 'blame" because why? most things that happen in performance are due mostly to owner ignorance, and bad shop work. if you look long enough at the dozen or so web sites out there EVERYTHING has problems and every shop sucks.. can't believe everything you read.. if this happened to you that is one thing but some friend of a friend or some guy on the internet.. thats crap keep that to yourself.. IMO

I've had their FLP's on my car for a while...

They are great...but I'm starting to get a few problems....the collectors on the headers are starting to rust and the Y-pipe is completely rusted....aren't these things ceramic coated?

Info like this is crap when it deals with parts that someone has on their own car, but if it dealt with something that you didn't have an interest in, say LS1 replacement starters, you wouldn't have posted a darn thing about my statement.
I don't believe much of what I read on the internet, but after having 3 Zs, going to meets and talking with guys, and seeing multiple pics and complaints of problems in the last 3 or 4 years of cruising/posting Z28 & LS1 boards I have come to the conclusion that folks should at least be informed before they plunk down $1300.
