Default According to dealer, my car was the most dangerous thing he has ever driven!

ok so i sent my car into the dealer for several issues, tire monitor failure and when using my remote start, its blowing AC instead of heat b/c the temp reading says 70 degrees when its 30 lol.. But the main reason i sent it was b/c the extreme loss of hanlding when the roads are wet..

i bought the car with 300 miles (jan 2008) on it and the car handled great in the rain and it did decent during the jan snow. Well since the past 2 months with 20,000 miles on the tires (GoodYear Eagle RSA) the cars handling went to ****.. it hydro plans, decides to steer to the left or right when the cars wheel is straight, i mean it so scary and i dont want to drive it.

so i took the car to the dealer and i got the call the other days saying the service guys could not duplicate the problem.. I HATE THAT DAMN WORD DUPLICATE! So i said listen i know this crap is happening, it only does it when the roads wet, he said ok i will take the car home with me tonight since there was a chance of some wet snow and rain.. Well i just got the call from him saying out of every car he has driven, my car was the most dangerous car he has driven in his life.. He said he was so scared driving it into work that he thought he was going to die.. I SAID SEE i knew it wasnt me.. so they are ordering me 4 brand new tires, have to be goodyear eagle rsa b/c it covered under warrenty, but how many of you still have the stock tires and what your milege. Do u get the same crap i was?

i have an impala ss 2007 by the way

see im confused how u got over 30,000 miles more than my tires with no problems when i got 20,000 and the worst handling on wet roads.. i tryed to ask the dealer if they could get me another brand of tire that was w rated and they said they cant.. warrenty only covers stock tires and they have to be sent from GM, they cant get them from a tire warehouse

At like 27k my stock tires just started sucking. Could not handle worth a damn when it was wet, terrible snow performance. I was spinning out in slush, it was crap.

Dropped on some Eagle Talons and since then I drove eight hours across the Upper Pennisula of Michigan as was a blizzard was dumping 2 feet of snow onto it. Car handled amazing. I was rolling down the Seney, passing 4x4s that were barely moving along. I had my traction control warning light come on twice during that trip, otherwise smooth sailing.

Get the Goodyears and get a four wheel alignment to go with them, call it a good day.

Well alignments aren't too expensive (although your dealership might try to screw you). Grab the yellow pages and start calling tire stores for 4 wheel alignment quotes. My local Firestone will hook me up for $75 out the door for all four. They're funny, they always park my car at the front of the lot to show it off. Its a garage / tire store and I've actually seen them move cars to stick mine out in front.

Note: If you have say 4 Firestones around you, call all four. The Firestone nearest to me wants $75, the one on the other side of town wanted $105.

Just in case we have any newbie GXP owners reading along with us, don't rotate your tires. Only Chevys need their tires rotated. Pontiacs come with a little monkey that lives in spare tire well. He hops out at night and rotates them for you. Just be sure never to open up your well, the monkeys are trained but not very friendly. My friend opened up mine and the monkey bit his hand off.

Also rotating is a bad idea since the GXP front tires are not the same size as the rear tires.

I'm at 21,000 on my original RS-A's on my '07 with no problems at all. They did surprisingly well in the snow last winter, albeit I don't have to drive far at all. I'm just hoping these tires hold up until I plan on getting rid of the car in 2010. I rotate them at 6000 miles and am hoping I don't need to replace them til then.

ok here what was on gm website.. the dealer said for 20,000 miles and the cars handling be so bad in rain, they said the tires are defective or something which is covered

Complete vehicle coverage:
3-years/36,000-miles (whichever comes first).
Tires (covered for defects in materials and workmanship; not for normal wear and tear or road hazards).
Towing to your nearest Chevrolet dealership.

ok so the dealer called and told me they will need the car back on monday. There going to take measurements of the suspension, ride height, everything. They are still waiting on a call back from GM on when the tires are going to be coming.. Said GM needs to contact goodyear first so they can get reembursed or something. The dealer said since its not going to rain this weekend, they will release the car to me. If it was going to rain they needed to keep it b/c since they said it was unsafe, and letting it go to me would allow me to throw a lawsuit if i crashed. Thank you for no rain b/c the work van i got does 0-60 in 3 days.. i hate it.. i will keep you all informed
