Intake manifolds?

Intake manifolds?
I know we can't use a Fast because of clearance issues with the power steering but what about the typhoon, bbk, professional products.... all the aluminum ones. Couldn't the back be modified the welded for clearance and then use after market fuel rails? I was just curious if any one tried them or if they would work.

thats what i mentioned in the LS1/LS6 sticky but im thinking since its already a remount mount PS tank that it would be to easy to relocate it and free up room and use a FAST or typhoon, Keeep in mind the TYPHOON and BBK etc are metal which will heat soak pretty bad on our cars IMO id stick with LS6 or a FAST 90 /92

I'd have no issue swapping an composite intake for an aluminum unit if it increased flow.
As far as the other intakes that the OP mentioned, they would still require a modded valley cover and OPSU, as well PS and possibly alternator bracket mods.
Believe it or not, the easiest "fit" is a truck intake, which requires no OPSU mods and only some trimming of the alternator bracket. Problem is, the top of the intake needs to be modified to clear the hood, as well as the underside of the hood itself. You'd also need to adapt the LS4 throttle body to fit and figure out what fuel rails to use.

If I disable the DOD can't I use a differant valley cover or do I have swap out lifters and cam. And if that's the case I think I would like the aluminum better as I could take it to someone that has a mill and have te bottom taken down a bit. I am just wondering cause I would like to get all the stuff the do it all at once (intake and exhaust).

You have to get rid of DOD completely to get rid of the tray not just tune it out, so you are correct.
I don't think the bbk or typhoon flow much better than the ls6 intake. And a composite intake is way better. My buddies H/C gto with a fast 102, you are able to touch the intake 2 mins after the cars shut off. Other buddy with a H/C Camaro with a bbk, 30 mins later it's still pretty warm to the touch.

I think the heat-soak issue is fallacy. The air spends such a short time in the intake, there's simply no time for it to measurably heat up. There are several threads here that document just that.

I measured 9 1/2" from the valley cover to the hood insulation. With the LS2 version you could run a 90mm TB.
Of course nobody has done this so you'd better double check every before you try.
Oh and the Edelbrock would be backwards.

I hear you but i think on a DD Heat soak is alot more applicable if were just 1/4 mile runs or dyno queen then sure but we all know cooler air to a certain extent is the way to go. The truck intake though is more tourqe oriented while being a easy up grade after shaving the top of it off, you still wouldnt outflow a ls1 intake. to me it seems that a fast 90 would be great relocating the PS resoivoir seems easy enough as its already a remote setup. BTW so if we were to get that katech tray that has a flat opsu we would be good to go right?

Truck intake does outflow the LS1 intake across the entire powerband. Research it. The truck intake is also better than the LS6 up to about 4000 RPMs. The LS6 is better above that level, but people underestimate just how good the truck intakes are. The main problem with them is the fact that they need a lot of massaging to fit passenger cars.

Another option would be Edelbrock Victor jr with an elbow. Edelbrock has a couple elbows, and IntakeElbows.com has some nice looking stuff, but I'm having trouble with there web site.

Why wouldn't something like this work with an elbow on the top that would bend over to mount the throttle body to? If an adapter were made, would this be a decent way to go? I like the visual appeal as well.
