UPDATE: After many reports, all of themaroking's auctions have been pulled. Thanks to all those that helped, and thanks to the admins for letting this live in te classifieds.
NEVER do business with themaroking on eBay unless you know what you are doing, but even then I wouldn't do it on principle alone.
I ran across the following eBay auction for an LS6 intake manifold. After asking some more questions and doing some searching I determined that it is actually an LS1 style manifold. I then informed the seller of this and suggested he should relist the item, but instead he added a comment in his ad that said I was a know-it-all, and continued to claim it was an LS6.
I just wanted to warn people before they spend hundreds of dollars on a $40 part.

If you do a google search on the part number he has listed, it comes up as a part number for the LS1 intake. Also, the picture of the bottom shows that it is not flat, also a strong sign that it is an LS1 intake.
If you can show me any reference to that part number being an LS6, I will apologize profusely, crawl into a hole, and cry.

Here is a nice comparison, and you can compare this to the picture of the one on eBay. Looks like an LS1 to me.

that is an LS1 intake, just verified by GM. dead giveaway is the underside of the intake, and also, you can see on the underside foam where the ls1 coolant crossover tubes ran....LS6 intakes use rear blockoffs and just a tube across the front head....i emailed the seller on ebay, guess i will see what he says back.

I'm glad I wasn't wrong...
But now the issue is how do I help keep some poor guy who doesn't do as much research from getting screwed? I talked to the seller and he is convinced that since it was off of a vette and had no EGR provisions that means it is an LS6. WRONG.
I then reported the listing to eBay, but I doubt anything will come of it. I would not normally put this much effort into something like this, but I hate onowing someone is about to get ripped off.
I am half tempted to win the auction and then be a dead-beat bidder and never pay. I then worry that he would offer a second chance bid and someone will still get screwed.
I guess if someone is going to scam, they are going to scam, and there is only so much I can do to stop it.

The number he lists 12556333 is for a corvette LS1 intake:

Oh and just so people know, I had nothing against this seller until he refused to correct the mistake that I informed him of. Now he is just being a scammer.
At first he was helpful and even added a picture of the bottom of the intake, but then when I provided the proof that it was not an LS6, he added a note to his auction for all of the know-it-alls with a link to a very generic wikipedia article.
Anyone with any notion of reponsibility or truthfulness would end the auction and relist it as an LS1 manifold.

I know some of us already have, but if you have a second, please go to the auction listing and at the bottom you can report it to eBay. I would think if enough people report it, eBay might actually remove it.
