Default First time at the track with LT1/M6 swapped Camaro

We took the Wife's LT1/M6 Camaro to the track for runday sundays exellent weather.

I was shooting for some 13.40-13.50s.

The first run I let the clutch out a little too quick and bogged out of the hole bad. The second one I slipped it a little more and it came out slightly better. After that I raised the launch rpm a little and slipped it a little more. after that I was ready to bracket race the car, lol.

Here are the slips:

R/T......002 ......056 .........243........041.........219
60ft.....2.57......2.26.........2.02 ......2.07........2.11
330.....6.19......5.87 .........5.57......5.60........5.64
1/8......9.12......8.83.........8.50 ......8.51........8.56
MPH....84.51.....83.66......84.74......85.09...... 84.8
1000...11.64....11.37.......11.01......11.01...... 11.07
1/4......13.76....13.51......13.12......13.12......1 3.19
MPH....106.93...106.01...107.1......107.19.....106 .87

The car runs pretty good for the minimal mods (recently dynoed 292/321):
Pacesetter Longtubes
O/R Y pipe
Magnaflow cat back
K&N CAI
CSR EWP

It still has a stock clutch, and 10 bolt with 3.42s.

I was on 16" MT DR's, but launched it very easy due to the stock 10 bolt.
I plan on gettin a stout clutch and rear end with some 4.10's ASAP and shooting for a 12 with a good launch!

DUDE LOL "R/T......002" Were you on speed for that launch? (If so, that's good, I have an Rx for amphetamines haha [which is what speed is])

Those are great times for, no offense, pretty average (for a modded car with stickies) 60fts. You REALLY smoked your hoped for times Good job!

A tune and 1.6RRs (or 1.6in/1.7ex) and I bet it could just break into 12s Which is a pretty inexpensive 12s heh A cam and I'd say definitely into 12s. Just want to watch that 10bolt :S Suspension work would easily put you into 12s too.

On that note... If you plan to take the 'camaro to the track more often I'd honestly start saving for a new rear end :\

disconnect the sway bar ,ice the intake, and launch at 4k, with the DRs at 18psi, it will do it. 10 bolt should take it on the stock clutch a few times. Well at least mine did! LOL!
If I doesnt Ill have a 10bolt for sale with 3.42s & a LS1 alum DS in a couple weeks

I just wouldn't chance it on the stock 10bolt, considering (I assume) that the car is being driven to the track.

Shame I don't have any money to spare, I'd love an aluminum drive shaft :\

Awesome times! You'll hit 12's easily with a new clutch and the 4.10's!

As for the 60, I was really launching it like a *****! I was not about to deal with a Triple A ride home!

NOT GOING TO DO IT! I am happy with what it did and know that I could get a 12 with a good 60. I'm going to try and get a rear for it ASAP and go full bolt ons and see what happens.

BTW, I did have the swaybar out. I knew we were going to take it to the track soon, so I never put it back in the car when i installed the engine.

Other than no front swaybar and no spare tire, none. It had the 17x9 Zo6's w/ 275/40/17's on the front and salad shooters with 255/50/16DR's on the back. We also had the baby seat in the car too

Once It has a rear and a good clutch, it is going to be skinnies and slicks all the way

Thanks for for the positive replys everyone!

Forgive me for the stupid question, but what all will disconnectiong the front swaybar do? My car is an A4, and i run consistent 2.0 60' times, would disconnecting the swaybar help me improve that time? and do you just umbolt the end links? or remove it all together?

That's pretty damn impressive man, those times for the mods listed show some real driving skill.

Congrats, the best I managed to achieve yesterday was 14.1@110mph, a broken 10 bolt, collapsed lifters, and a wrecked rocker arm, but I made it home!

Your car looked clean, do you know what time that powerdyne equipped Impala SS was running?

DAAAAAAAAAAAMN, that sucks! 110 trap is pretty good, what are your mods?

It would be cleaner if the front bumper wasn't trashed

I never got to talk to the guy after he ran the Impy.

BTW your car looks bad *** with the stock C5 Z rims!

Thanks, I'm in the same boat though, my front bumper looks horrible, and I've got clear peeling off the roof, driver door, etc.

The motor has a hot cam, forged rods/pistons, milled heads, etc, and most bolt ons, EWP is one item I don't have. 4.10 gears which are now coming out if salvageable, I think I killed the differential, its hard to turn now. I'm hoping to stick a completely stock rear under it next week.
I was just on Riken Raptors, I wasn't going anywhere very quickly.

I don't think it does anything (other then weight reduction) if your already hooking good. I'm putting mine back on, car handles like a turd without it.

OP, dude thats some awsome times for a 3.42 gear with bolt-ons, gives me hope that i'll see low 13s come spring after installing a new clutch, i'm sure my stocker was slipping after 159000 miles, your right into wanting to get that 12 second slip with what you have & better 60fts., your solidly into the 12s with that mph, even your 2.0 60fts. are very impressive with 3.42s, that car is making good power & its working for you.
