Default Attn: Those who did the LS1 Lid swap...

Ok, I got the SLP lid, LS1 base, and a 4 inch glasstech cowl. Ive seen people run these with the ls1 base, mine still hits the cowl. Is there something Im missing? Did u guys still have to cut at all? Looks like for me to make this work, i would have to cut the bottom of the hood, which im not crazy about. Any ideas or suggestions?

do you have a pic of the bottom of the hood.

it seems crazy. All the searching if done indicates you just bolt on the lower air box. Just like factory.

I feel your frustration. I have the same hood and bought everything I need for the LS1 lid conversion. My hood won't even close with the lid removed and just the radiator shroud on there! Its not even close! It appears that quite a bit could be cut from under the hood, little nervous to do that though. I'll let you know if I find a solution before you do.

I don't know what has to all be done, but if it can fit under a stock hood with mods, I fail to see how this cowl wouldn't with even LESS mod to the core support.

For a camaro you only use the ls1 lid, no need for the ls1 rad support ( lower air box) You have to cut the under side of a stock hood. I have done this on my camaro and a stock hood T/A

This is making me nervous because I am about to do the swap with the factory air box on a camaro with a Harwood 2.5in cowl hood. I have a feeling it's not gonna work... then again I am not afraid to cut the radiator support.

Well the stock base and stock lid definitely won't fit under the harwood I have. I don't know if it's worth modding or if I should just sell everything. I just bought a whisper lid off of ebay too!

definately don't give up on this, follow the instruction here
http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/ls1-li...k-camaro-hood/ and you will be fine. the performance gain and the cleaner look are worth it!

I don't know... I really don't want to cut up my core support.

i was feeling the same way for about 2weeks then i just figured WTF and grabbed a marks alot and a sawzall and never looked back....the gain alone offset my mixed emotions of cutting the support.....

I wouldnt... I bought the LS1 lid, LS1 support, and 4" cowl hood hoping it would fit... I tried everything and it does NOT fit at all... Back to the LT1 setup.
