Default Fuel Injectors Size?

Ok i was wondering if i should get some bigger fuel injectors for my Z28 in Sig.

Will I see a gain in power?

What size should i go with and what brand?

Also will i need to retune my PCM?

Nope...at your power level the stock 24#ers will work just fine. Injectors are a supplement to increased horsepower - they do not increase it. Anytime you upgrade an injector you need to have the PCM retuned for decreased PWM. There are several good brands of injectors that are all considered good - Ford SVO, Lucas/Delphi, etc.

If you have a bad injector (leaky) than new ones would help. I replaced mine with just #24 SVO. Also if I remember SVO's are measured at a different flow rate though.

Ok...im looking into here in the near future dropping in a rebuilt LT1 with Lloyds LE2 Heads and 220/230 Cam and 1.6 RR.

Will i need bigger injectors then? If so what size would be suffecient?

can you elaborate on this a little. i know about the ecm constants table where you have to set the injector size but what about the pulse width modifier?

Yes stockers are good for now. With the LE2 heads and 220/230 cam some SVO 30's would be all you need. Im running them with LE2 heads and a slightly larger cam. Actually called up Bryan Herter (PCMforless) the other day who is going to dyno my car this summer and he said the SVO 30's are great for my setup and no need for more injector. Alot of guys are running 36/37's with that setup as well but no need to fork out the extra cash when the 30's are sufficient. However, if your planning on doing more mods down the road then I would suggest getting the 36/37's.

Some Delphi 37# would work good with that LE2 set up. Same one's I'm running.

Ford is 39PSI, so the injectors are about 1.5# more on GM's 43PSI. I have the 24# as well (but I came from 22# since 93s are funky) and so I retuned. I think that the 1.5# difference won't require a tune as it's EASILY possible for stock injectors to be with in 1.5# of each other.

As stated by one of the other posters, bigger injectors don't make HP. I really feel that a better than stock fuel pump and an adjustable regulator are one of the best upgrades that you can do. In an ideal world you should tune your car for any change that you make. A lot of guys on this forum install too big of an injector and then reduce the pulse width to make them work. I have found that this leaves quite a bit of low end HP on the table. Every time that I take my car to tune on a chassis dyno the operator has told me that I will need bigger injectors. That is, until I make the first pull!

My Stock Eliminator Formula makes approx. 400 RWHP and runs 6.5's in the 1/8th @ 103 mph. The best sixty foot time to date is 1.31. I run 24lb SVO injectors @ 50psi. I change the tune for everything, including DA. The injectors are not even close to being maxed out.
