The oil pan seems to be dented. Does the dent look big enough to affect the oil pump pickup? The car has normal oil pressure and has had the dent since I bought the car 30k miles ago.

I'd say if you are going to be replacing the gasket, go ahead and replace the pan too.

Nice camera! lol, i'm used to low quality camera phone crap.

but i mean, if youve got good pressure and its been that way for 30k miles, why replace it>?

That's what I'm thinking. I'm just looking for opinions on if its dented enough to affect the oil pump pickup because it will take more clearance to remove the pan than just to remove the gasket.

BTW weren't you at Starbucks on Hawthorne and Artesia a few weeks back? I have the red 96 ws6. Small world lol.

Hey:

Yes, it looks like it is leaking at the crunched part.

Mine currently looks worse, and it does not leak.

prolly just oil leaking from else where collecting at the "sharpest point"

if it doesn't leak and nothing is contacting inside the pan then run it imo

btw removing the oil pan is a PITA so you really don't want to do it unless necessary

**** my oil pan has a nice dent like that. previous owner decided to jack it up by the pan lol. but if its not affecting anything, i wouldn't worry bout it. mine is fine and no problems and i dont really care what it look like under there. my car def aint no show car, and these cars were just meant to have fun in and enjoy. so who cares what underneath looks like. just my $.02.

of course no one would care bout how ur oil pan looks like, its not about looks its about the clearance between the pickup screen and the pan bottom surface.it might not affect oil pressure but will affect the oil volume sucked by the pickup tube, the clearance between the top of the screen and the pan is suppose to be no more than 3/8" and no less than 1/4". if its too high it may not pick up the sufficient volume and if its too low it might get restricted.
