Default Installed my 383! blew head gasket..

My project was finally done! Installed. Broke it in just like everyone told me to. The first time I actually got on it racing a turbo mustang I blew the head gasket. Engine temp flew up; white smoke out the back... The whole reason I bought a new motor was because of a blown head gasket on my old motor hydrolocked my old lt1... GRGRR WTF!

DAMN sounds like the head bolts might not have been torqued down correctly

Who knows... I'm going to have to pull the heads and get them checked. Some one said they might not have been flush or a cheap gasket. I want to be driving the car not working on it still. That's why I bought a complete engine. I hope it didnt cause any damage... Breaking is a reason to upgrade... But in this case it would just be wasting time and $$$.

Head studs and cometics will be best for a turbo application.

Did you hit the juice during the run?

If so, you probably detonated and blew a gasket due to improper fueling. If you didn't change naything else between teh first hydrolocked motor and this one in regards to the nitrous system, it was probably your culprit then too...

Acutally the first engine was N/A as well just simple bolt ons. This was a whole new motor... 1 have 2 Camaro's a 94 anda 95...

The tune was done by Bryan Harris. My engine builder told me to send it to him. We sent him the specs. "mail order tune"

more info... type of gaskets? compression? etc.....

you shouldn't be blowing gaskets like that NA if the motor was built right..... cometic gaskets should be used however..... you'd be hard pressed to blow one of those....

also you need to find out where it blew... cylinder to cylinder or out the side...
