Default Max a LT1 stock head can be shaved down?

I think I warped my heads again, how likely can I get them shaved down again? Last time it was .006 of an inch. Also, if my heads are done for, would finding used LT4 heads be worth the price on a stock engine? My future plans are headers, CAI, and maybe a small-mild cam. Thanks in advance!

You still have a lot of room to go b/f you need to worry. Some porters will take .030" off to get the desired CR. Might want to check for proper pushrod lenght when you put it back t/g though depending on how much they take off.

I'd find a set of stock heads and have them ported b/f I went to the LT4 head, unless you found a killer deal.

What part of MD are you in and what machine shop you using?

I'm in Howard Country, Ellicott City/Columbia. I don't remember the name of the shop, but I went to a heads only place off route one. It's run by this older guy, seemed like of those dudes who does what he loves and has been doing it his whole life. I got a pretty good deal too, 125 for both heads shaved down and a few valves replaced.

Doesn't sound too bad, might want to upgrade valve springs why you have the heads off if you are even thinking of a different cam.

The cam won't be for a few months, so no point in it now. Thanks for the advice tho! Also, those red strips look pretty bad ***.

I had .030 taken off mine to get 50cc chambers. If your gonna get more taken off make sure to check your pushrod legnth as said above. What do you think is warping your heads?

I did the same, but with my setup it came out to be 54cc chambers..(i think)
so, you've got room to play.
