Default got my first kill in the Z28 tonight!

my mods : all free mods, full exhaust, hypertech, yank ss4000, built 700r4

vs 97 gt vert with 11.0:1 cr , pi heads, trickflow cams, aftermarket intake, full bolt on, gears , 5 speed...

we race 2 times both with traction issues from a 20 roll( with a stalled auto I wasnt going to go higher on the roll) both resulted in about 2- 2.5 cars my way ! I love my f-body !

nice kill. never been impressed by 2v's.

but apparently the new trick flow 2v heads will help you cure cancer without getting herpes. they're that good.

Nice!

I recently did a mark viii 4v swap into an 01 GT. With a 96 cobra intake, 96-98 cobra intake cams, close to full bolt ons and 4.10s it want 12.47 @ 109.

I put a set of 4.10 gears in it and he ripped off a 12.30 @ 111. I know its not the quickest/fastest, but it goes to show what a properly geared and set up 4.6 can do. To many people get hung up on what the avarage guy runs. The same goes for die hard mustang guys/forums. Most think that a full bolt on LT1 is lucky to break into the 13s

i like fords 4 valve motors, but the really need to make better blocks, so you can bore and stroke them to 400cid + and then those heads will be very beneficial.

na vs na

a 4.6 4valve will never beat a 5.7 2 valve pushrod motor

the 5.7 ls1 just has allot more potential

Or in a race?

in both. lets say you take a 4.6 4v and a 5.7 ls1 with 11:1 CR both with the best heads and cam possible etc both motors na

one in a f body the other one in a stang

f body is going to win

A hooked up ls1 or lt1 should beat a hooked up 4.6L on paper all day long. The truth is not everyone has there car tuned right or even running nearly as good as they should to even compare paper statistics like that.

There was not a "both" option for that question. I guess I should have been more specific. Your answer has to do with both engines set up to the max. I'm not going to get into an ls1 vs 4.6 4v debate, IMO the ls1 IS a much better engine. BUT.............

Having an engine with more potential and the average cars racing are two different things.

For one, you willn not find many max effort N/A 4.6s (they are out there, but they are few and far between)

So when I ask this question, it is talking about an average set up, full bolt ons, stock motr.etc:

Are you saying a 4.6 4v can not beat an ls1 in a race? I also know there have been full bolt on ls1s in the 10s, but that was a gutted out race car with a race weight of less then 3k. I'm also talking about close to full weight street cars.

EXACTLY. We dont race on dynos, and we dont race on paper. There are a couple local, properly set up N/A 4.6 4vs that hands *** whoopins to similarly modded ls1s all day long(and supercharged cobras for that matter). HP is not always the end all be all in a race. Putting the power you have to the ground and keeping the car in its RPM range are VERY important. It is quite comical when a 400+ rwhp car gets its *** handed to it by a car with 300-320 rwhp

in the vid I posted above the car was bolt ons only. when it was all said and done my "cam only" cobra wound up making 386 whp NATURALLY ASPIRATED ON A MUSTANG DYNO(prob 415 ish on a dyno jet) ....stock untouched heads, ported intake, .030 over, pump gas, and all the normal bolt ons....and it ran like a raped ape so fast n/a 4v's are there, its all in having a setup that works...take nazman for example on svt perf with a 4v stroker @537 whp N/A 10's on motor low 9's on a small shot..
