Yup, here's mine. Hacked away lol (excuse the filth, this is when I was cutting the hood and there was crap flying everywhere).

So i have the 98-02 front end conversion, but the top portion of the slp lid is hitting the underside of the SS hood, my lid support is not sitting flush on the frame rail so I am going to have to trim it up a bit tomorrow to try to get it to sit as flush as I can get it to.

looks good though for sure.

Do you have a side pic of what you cut out, where you can see how it sits on the rail from the side?

For those of you that were wondering if this will work with a sunoco hood i have the answers!! I cut into my core support so the filter would sit down a little and still had to cut 2 notches in the front of the hood to close it all the way.

just got done cutting mine down on the sides a little and underneath, hood closes no problem and doesn't really look like I did anything to the radiator support. this is on a 98-02 front end conversion.

Hey guys I really apologize for this being down for so long, but the writeup is back online! It is a revised version of the last one, so there are some additional pictures and details, I hope it was worth the wait. Enjoy.

Again, sorry for the downtime!

I have read the whole thread and the write up....along with some other threads about this mod, but I have a couple questions:

1.) Does the radiator support cover or whatever you call the plastic piece that surrounds the lid/filter have to come from a LS1 car or just a 98+ car? In other words, would one from a V6 be the same? If this is a dumb question, my apologies....I haven't looked under the hood of any V6 F-bodies. Also, guess it may have been asked/answered, but I don't remember seeing it.

2.) I see this thread is titled "+stock hood" but it looks to be an SS hood in the pics.....which I realize is stock on some cars.....but has anyone done this with a stock/regular Z28 steel hood?

I can't bring myself to cut the core support of my 97 SS, but I have a 95 Z28 that I wouldn't feel so bad about doing some permanent mods to.

I've not heard of anyone using parts from a v6 car when I did this mod, I would think the intake was different.

I did this mod on mine with a stock z28 hood. It was a pretty tight fit but it worked. Great mod for the money, I think it looks really good. I have pics of what I cut and all on my page below.

1) I believe the radiator support from a V6 car is the same, but the stock lid might be different - which you wouldnt be using anyway.

2) Yes its been done. The clearance issues will be entirely with the lid - here is a writeup using a lid and stock hood: http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/ls1-li...k-camaro-hood/

3) Thanks for the reminder. Ive been meaning to take a picture of the bottom of my hood, I had to cut a pretty substantial piece out. If you are worried about resale I would not do this mod, but if you are looking for power this is VERY worth having a couple cuts in the car.

So I can find any 98+ support....which should be alot easier than looking for LS1 stuff....and it will work since the clearance issue is with the lid. Then just get the SLP lid and filter....trim the core support and underside of the steel hood and I'm good. I don't want to do this to my SS, but I am really looking forward to this mod on the 95.....I just gotta rebuild the motor or find a good used LT1 first. lol

I'll let you be the judge, here is a picture of the engine bay of my old 99 V6 Camaro: http://joelrdevriendt.com/files/publ...o/IMG_8495.JPG

A good way to double check would be to lookup the part numbers on each. If they match, you are good to go!

Ive added pictures of the hood to the writeup. That will probably scare everyone away from doing the mod now
