Computer behind rear armrest??
I'm in the middle of gutting my car, and when I pulled the rear passenger side plastic out, there's what looks like a small PCM. Its right under the rear speaker. What the heck is it? Also, can I remove the sound deadening around it, or does that "insulate" it from vibrations?

Weird. My boyfriend had no clue what it was either. I'm worried about chopping it out and ******* something up. It looks stock. I'll get back outside and take a picture in a couple minutes.

Well LS1tech seems to hate me today, and won't let me upload anymore pictures for some reason. It says "Delco Electronics" across the back of it, if that helps?

May we assume you have the Delco BOSE sound system? I think each speaker in these radio setups have their own amp... not on the Monsoon, just on the BOSE setups. The factory radio has the Bose logo on the faceplate.

I pulled this out of my car over the summer when I installed a CD player from an '02 trans am in my car.
for whatever reason, none of the speakers would work with that box plugged in. the second I un plugged it, they all started working again.
I dont think it's actually an amplifier because it doesn't have the correct wiring to actually "amplify" anything. I think it's more or less a noise filter of some sort.

That should be the amp that drives the subs in the sail panels (next to each rear seat). GM designed in our cars 95 and below (without the monsoon or bose) with the 10 speaker premium system to use these as subs for bass - LOL. The computer you refer to is simply the amp to drive these 2 speakers. If you have an aftermarket amp or hu they can drive them and you don't need this.
