I can't believe I'm saying this, but the pics I've seen of the 2011 Mustang actually look pretty sharp. I'm not sure if the pics I've seen are of the concept car, or what.
GM needs to roll out the new Z28.

Man idk how some of you guys are doubtin GM power! They've always been faster and Ford has always responded a few years late! Nothing here is new
92 GM introduces LT1 and SPANKS the 5.0 GT's a cobra's
4 years later...
96 Ford Introduces the DOHC 4.6 in the SVT and basically matches the LT1
97 GM Introduces the LS1 and DESTROYS the 4.6 cobra DOHC motor
6 years later...
03 Ford Basically Matches the late LS1's with a forced induction 4.6
05 Ford basically downgrades to the regular 4.6 305HP DOHC motor and makes a car that runs like an LT1 in the 1/4 mile...
The same year GM's using LS2 400HP motors in their vettes/GTO's/SSR's lol...
Ford kept using the same 4.6 in their cars thru '10...which where still routinely rivaled BY GM's 1997 technology!...
Now they have a motor that ALMOST matches GM's performance motors that have been around for a few years??? (LS3 vs. new 5.0) Nothing is new here people...just the same ol Ford late responce trying to be as fast as chevy and failing...
Give it 2-3 years...
GM > Ford
I'm not saying the new mustang's arent a killer design, just saying, they're just matching GM's 2008 power 3 years later...they don't ever top GM, they try to match it, and by the time they figure it out, GM keeps moving forward and leaves them in the dust.

No ones doubting gm's power, the problem is that they are putting all that new power in heavy *** pig cars!! Which makes all that extra power a wash. Its pretty sad that a 420hp ls3 camaro is no faster than a 320hp ls1 camaro! I will always be a gm fan, I just feel they are goin the wrong direction in performance, its not all about power dude, it's the total combination that makes a great car!

i'm curious to see if thats as big as the new dohc302 can go. i know the older mod motors you can stroke them out to 302, but i wonder if this one can be stroked to a 347dohc. if so its gonna be a bad *** motor. but the new mustang and new camaro are pretty heavy, it'll be an interesting heads up race.
Now if you talk about the car they would be going into, the Mustang does have the weight advantage. Now a world beater would be an LS3 in the Fox body

A fair comparison would be a Z28 vs. a GT..the Cobra was built to compete with the Z06..so I would hope it would out-do a base model Camaro.
Go get a spcial edition Camaro..like the 2002 ZL1, and watch it spank the **** out of the Cobra....on MOTOR TOO!!
The ZR1 and the Caddy are in a whole different category on their own..a factory production Mustang will never touch that ZR1, and that CTSV will smack a Cobra..with style, comfort, luxury, and 2 extra doors for groceries.

Uh Mustang was the first pony car and gm has played catch up to Ford. Gm has always made more power, but the camaro has always bee heavier too.

Rumored: GM may soon be producing either a direct injection V6 with twin turbos, Direct injection V8 with or without turbos (depends on final displacement) and will once again be ahead on horsepower very likely. What is more a concern to me however is how piggly the cars have become and all the automakers need to start thinking about reducing weight. A current F-body is 15 to 25% heavier than the 4th gen. Wouldn't it be better to make 400hp and weigh 3000 lbs than make 500hp and weight 4000? you can always make more horsepower but it can be hard to reduce weigh without really stripping the car. In that category the older cars (4th Gens and Fox Bodies) have the advantage.

Not sayin that.. you are comparing apples to oranges in a way.. The top of the line Mustangs compared to the base model Z28. That's a bullshit comparison.

The cobra or gt500 was never ment to compete with the Z06... not really sure where you got that info from. They are 2 completly different cars in 2 completly different classes.
