oil pump dilema
I have a few questions about replacing my oil pump,
1. how do i remove the shaft from the old oil pump? the old oil pump is the one on the red rag, does it come apart at the red part?
2. Can i replace the screen by just swapping the bottoms of the pumps.
Thanks guys!

With your muscles.
You will probably break the nylon coupler anyway, so just twist and tug it away from the pump. Get a Melling IS-55E shaft. It has a metal coupler (better). http://shbox.com/1/op_shaft.jpg
I would not use the cover from the old pump. They can get wear in them from the gears. I personally don't like to reuse a screen, either. The interference fit in the pump will not be as tight if you remove and reuse. Orient the angle of the new screen just like the old.

I don't have time to replace the screen, however you were right on point about the coupler, i Pulled them apart and it snapped right off, I am getting the car tuned next friday so waiting for parts, isn't really and option at this point
And if it isn't ready, well I can start looking for a new job...
And if it isn't ready, well I can start looking for a new job... Like shbox said, go to your local parts store and purchase the melling IS-55E oil pump drive shaft. It is only about $10. It is money well spent instead of trying to buy the coupler alone.

Okay guys, you would think after I got the pick up tube, and the drive shaft with the metal coupler I would be done, well not quite, The oil pick-up tube is IMPOSSIBLE to install! I have tried over and over with no luck, and i don't want to bend or disfigure this pump! how did you guys install yours (pick-up tube is a 5/8") here's some pics! ---------->

Thanks again guys (And advanced had both in stock!) (surprising I KNOW!

) If you don't have an installation tool, use an open end wrench to slip over the pipe and butt against the little collar. Hammer on the wrench close to the pipe. You have to hold the pump still and the pipe has to go in perfectly straight for it to get started. It is not always an easy task. Get the angle of the screen correct before it goes in much or you might not be able to adjust it later. You might try cooling the screen, too.
