Pretty sure George Baxter set that record way back in the 90s with his 30th anniversary SS. It was running 9.04s IIRC.

I have a video of Baxter going 8.76 at 160mph. So he went at least that fast.

Did he do that with an LTx? I think he moved onto a Gen1 later on.

George's car never went faster then a 9.0 with the blower LT1. There was a white A.r.e Trans Am from up north that was in the 9s on the bottle, big stroker/nitrous car
