except I already OWN all of this and I have for over a decade now while waiting to find a better block! LOL!
Lets say you have thousands and thousands of dollars in BBC stuff. Do you toss it all and go LSx just because it is the hot thing to do?
Ed I have had those heads and intake since before you ran 9s N/A with your LTx

Ellis, since your not using the optispark there is no reason you can't use the regular Bowtie block. Since you say fu*k 23 deg heads, there is a huge selection of roll over heads available. I don't see anything "LT1" about your engine now but a thin wall casting block.

I started from scratch on a separate engine so could have went pretty much any platform I wanted, but choose to stay LT1 because I like the platform and the reaction people give when they find out its a boat anchor LT1. I feel the only negative to the LT1 is the bore size, and I can still reach my goal with a 4.030 bore and some AFRs so I decided to try it. After all this time and money, if it doesn't do what I want I'll part out the motor and build a nice 700hp pump gas BBC for it.
Nothing like $2,500 worth of car with $15,000 worth of engine

Going faster is like an addiction.......and it won't go away. You are on top of your game right now, but there is always someone quietly watching waiting for their time. What was good enough last year won't be next year.
I am not knocking the LT platform.....I like working on them. I am just trying to shed a "practical light" on this stuff. The LT platform is dieing....and nothing is going to change that.

This is why I am really on the fence with even painting my ****. The paint will cost as much or more than the car is actually worth if it were in excellent condition. I'm holding out in hopes the 4th gen SS will become the next Yenko.

I don't know now many are racing in SE, but I was told when I got my car that the LT1 was a duck and there were much better combos. The LT1 is making a surge in SE now. It is far from a duck.
The LS1s, iron head 396s, and a couple of other combos are far more expensive than mine. A top quality LS1 is twice the cost of my LT1. The combos you mentioned don't fit into SE rules. But I will gladly line up against any combo in my class and see how it fares in a head's up run.
I bet I could hold my own.

You must be on drugs. The only time I ever sprayed it was for a "shoot out" the local Camaro/Firebird club had with a Texas Buick GN club was back when mine was just running low tens in summer heat. It did blow the tires off if I sprayed it in low gear, so I just sprayed it 2nd & 3rd gears. Had to use 4th gear to make it to the finish line. Ran 9.80s that way. Took it right back off and sold it. 100 hp kit. That's the easy button for sure. If you don't know how to make one run, just spray it. It was still full weight & street legal on 9" tires then.

SO either way YES you went 9s N/A and I was still daily driving mine 50 miles a day and juicing it into the nines.
I still do not under stand what that has to do with any thing?
I STILL want a biog bore and do not want to just toss all my LTx stuff to make everyone else feel beter.
And this coming from you of all people LOL!
Like I said at least we all love having you around

Ellis, I never told anybody it was slower on nitrous. I could not spray it in low gear. It was a temporary, one day deal. Just had a starter button wired to it. Held it in my right hand while holding the wheel. Pushed the button when I wanted to spray it. Had to wait for the 1-2 shift so it wouldn't smoke the tires. Plenty of guys around here were there and can verify that.
I don't know if you are deaf, on drugs or just drunk. Who the hell would think one would run slower on nitrous? Or would be dumb enough to tell it?
It was in 2006 when I did that. I got it in the nines NA in 2007, made an SS car out of it the winter of 2008. Had an SS legal 358" in it ever since.
The 383" I pulled out at the end of 2007 is still hanging on an engine stand here in my garage right now.
