Default First time on the track with new setup!!!

Sadly it was only an 1/8 track. The nearest 1/4 track to where I am right now is Dallas, Tx which is 180 miles away. Too long of a drive for only 1 hour of racing...Here is how it went!

Location: Abilene Drag Strip, Abilene, Texas
Elevation: 1719 ft.
D/A when I ran: 4700 ft.

I ran on street tires: 275/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1's

Timecard reads as follows...

.2119----Reaction
2.09-----60 ft E/T
5.64-----330 ft E/T
8.47-----1/8 Mi. E/T
86.99----1/8 MPH

IF I can get my 60' down to a 1.6 after my new rear end and slicks, and get my tune dialed in, I could possibly be mid to low 7's! I am done with the track though until next week when I can get to Dallas to get a 1/4 time!

you might hit a low 8 with a better 60. Theres no way your gonna go down another second. The trap speed isnt there at all. Maybe if you trapped high 80 or low 90's.

Even with that DA I would expect it to run a bit quicker. That's about a 13.3 in the 1/4. Or maybe I'm missing something?

I doubt you'll see a low 7. That's knocking on 11 flat and you don't have the power for that.

When I ran at a lower altitude with my OLD setup I ran:

Reaction - .2057
60ft - 2.2386
330ft - 5.8962
1/8 ET - 8.9198
1/8 MPH - 81.20
1000 ET - 11.5114
1/4 ET - 13.2954
1/4 MPH - 104.73

That was an 8.9 second 1/8 at 81.2 mph

This was an 8.47 second 1/8 at 86.99 mph

I should be at LEAST in th 12's...my top end is strong though

I don't doubt that you should be in the 12s...by all means deep 12s to high 11s. But running a low 7 in the 1/8 is way out of reach.

Well the low 7's isnt going off of the current HP rating...

I need to get a tune which is going to add 20-40 RWHP, new intake (which I am hoping for 10 RWHP), and I am gonna get 4.10 gears in a new, stronger rear end along with slicks. PLUS I will be losing a little bit of weight because I will be losing my ABS, and swapping out my heavy ZR1 wheels for Draglites.

With all of THAT I am gonna try for low 7's if I can nail my 60' down. Plus the DA was shitty so I wanna try it all on a good day cause the altitude here is 1700ft.

The way I sit right now if I had gotten a 1.6 60' I would have been at least a flat 8 in the 1/8th.

Not going to run a low 7, but in the 7's it should for sure.

Low low 7's is knocking on the door of 10's Cory, so not gonna happen.

Most setups like yours run mid 11's when dialed in properly

I didnt mean a 7.1 or 7 flat lol. I mean like a 7.4 or 7.3 at the lowest. I dont think I am gonna be close to a 6 lol. But still, I am happy the car is performing well.....just need to get the rest done, get the rear and slicks in it, and get the 60' down

I get all that. Low 7s in the 1/8th is almost a 10 second pass. I'd love to see you prove me wrong though.

Travis, when you ran your 12.3 N/A, what were the 1/8 times and speeds? just curious so I have an idea

My car runs 7.3 in the 1/8 at 93mph and that is an 11.5 run. You are a good ways off that. This is also with a 1.55 60ft time

If I could hook up and get a 1.6 60', that would drop my time to an 8.0 in the 1/8 right there if not slightly lower due to the higher trap speed. After I get my tune done, and get my 4.10's in the car it will come down a little more from that so we will see where I end up for sure. Thanks for the input

I think travis ran a 7.8 or 7.9 around the mph you have when he was bolt-ons but that was threw an auto. If you could get yours to 60ft lower it may go some high 7s. You deff need a tune tho and it will pick up more.

I can see better times if you can get the car to sixty better. Mid to low 11's are also possible with 400 to the wheels, imo. I'm barely hitting that on the dyno, but look at the time in my sig.

While I will agree that hooking better will get your overall ET down, I highly doubt you'll make up half a second in the 1/8th. I think your hopes are a little on the high side.

I'd expect you to run 11.6-11.8 with traction.

if I go from a 2.09 to a 1.6 60', that is 4 tenths off my time ALONE. Almost 1/2 a second. That is what I am trying to say Joe. If I get my 60' to a 1.6 I cut 4 tenths off my 1/8 time which would take my 8.47 and make it an 8.07.

Add in my other improvements like a tune (could add 20-40 RWHP), LS1 Intake (rumored 10 HP...not sure if its RWHP or FWHP), better DA (4700' that day, potential for 2000' or less), and 4.10 gears and each of those will lower my time a little bit more...Plus I found out yesterday I was actually running on 91 Octane...thought I was on 93...pumps here lie.

Not trying to argue with experience, I do respect your opinion, I am just confused as to why knocking off 4 tenths from my 60' doesn't translate into 4 tenths off my 1/8 time. Am I missing something here?

A 7.8 or 7.9 at MY mph when I ran my 8.4 (86.99) is a low speed...you sure about that??

What cam are you running? I trap 89-90mph with stock heads... something doesn't seem right.
