If you go let me know, we can caravan up there. BTW, we will both have to step up our game a bit, lol. High 10's won't cut it in modified n/a. It's labor day weekend on a saturday. That gives an extra day to get home since most people are off on monday. If I go , I plan on leaving early on friday, like 5am or so. It should take 10.5 hours for me, you are an hour from me.

I'd really like to attend the shootout (first and foremost) and throw my hat in the ring for extreme street NA. Timing of the event is just bad for me, but I’ve got 6+ months to think of something…
Haven't even dyno tuned or track tested my setup yet, but assuming I'm making 425hp at the wheels; I've got all the chassis and suspension mods you can think of, and will be running a big set of DR's - would I be stupid to compete considering I'm still running my stock 10 bolt and 2.5" steel driveshaft? I fully intend/look forward to breaking the rear end or driveshaft some day, but getting a tow all the way home from Kentucky would be bad news.
I've got a 3500 converter. Is this thing going to snap my driveshaft after a few launches? I haven't been to the drag strip in 5 years and reading over a bunch of the posts regarding lane and staging etiquette makes me embarrassed to say I was never aware of any of this **** the few times I did visit a drag strip.
Not to steer too far off topic, but regarding driveshaft safety loops: I’ve noticed my loop is connected towards the transmission end of the driveshaft. If my shaft or “yoke” (?) breaks at the end closest to the rear axle, is that severed rotating shaft going to bend and carve up my *** through the floor board???
I’ve got a million other questions to ask, like – uh – how do you guys all pull off a burn out? :O (I get that I need a line lock, but what gear(s) do you do it in? – how exactly do you each stop it?? just let off or shift up, etc?).
I think I’d need to get in a dozen weekends of local test & tune before considering to run in an event. My 10-bolt would probably be toast long before then anyways no?

as for the burn out i start in 1st then shift 2nd and then 3rd...let off the brake and drive it out in 3rd gear about 15 feet then just back off the throttle.......wit ur car id prob just go 1st to 2nd.....i got a steep gear so i can get away with it.......
but as for the shoottout it would be great to see your car show up!!! sounds like its got the possibility to be a quick car.....come on down and have some fun!!

For all of you guys that do not have trucks and trailers, you might want to rent one. I just looked on the enterprise website and did a little digging. I can rent a Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 on September 1st (thursday at noon) and drop it off after hours on Sunday the 4th for $192.75. The mileage part is a little whacky for me though. I can basically drive it anywhere east of the Mississippi River and it's ok, but if I cross the Mississippi it is 150 miles free then $.30 per mile. I am from Western, NY so your results may vary. I have rented trailers before, and they are usually $35-$50 a day. A new Silverado with the 5.3 will get 11-14mpg towing a trailer (I have one). Some of you guys that live closer could rent it on Friday and drop it off on Sunday. Just something to think about instead of driving your f-bod 500+ miles.

U-haul trailers are pretty darned cheap if you can find them.
They will usually not let you have one unless you have a full size truck to pull it though. I rented one with the S-10 once, had to lie and tell them I was towing a mini cooper with no engine, lol. That was when my '86 IROC **** its first 700R4.
