Default First real drive with new cam swap...few ?'s....

i finally got my car buttoned up and troubleshooting my initial bugs to where i can drive on the street.but now i have a new set of issues.

the cars exhaust smell very rich and yes i had it tuned.i pulled my new plugs and no signs of excessive gas at all.and also my car is a m6.when i do a WOT pull and shift to 2nd i get a horrible bog and the power doesnt pick back up till about 3000rpm or so?what do you think this is all about?

and lastly even when just doing low rpm cruising it stumbles and bucks 100% of the time unless im above 2500rpm or so.car has new tr55plugs new opti and new wires.this modding stuff gets frustrating but im sure im almost to the point of my car being "right".

when my maf lost its 12v power could i have fouled my o2's that quick just siting in the driveway?ive replaces the plugs but not the o2's

Pretty big cam for stock short block.

Sounds like the tune could still use some work too though.

I'm sure gearing has a little to do with some of you problems. I can't see if they are in your sig or not but typically bigger cams go with bigger gears.

well heres my complete setup...not much lol.

stock longblock
230/236 112lsa
gm 1.6rr
ebay headers and catback
k&n intake
new timing chain
new o2 sensors
tr55 plugs
solomon tune
everything else is stock
3.42 gears
new opti

now above 3000rpm it runs like raped ape and below that comes the issues

my buddy has he same size cam but on a 113 and pretty much the same setup other than a stalled auto and 3.73 and he has none of the problems im having.

its raining here but once it slacks up im going to give it a try with he o2's unplugged and see how it does in open loop to see if i can rule the o2's out.

i only had one code thrown and its a multiple cylinder misfire but the light goes on and off on it own

There are a few things you can try.
1st I would re-adjust your rockers with the engine running.
Bad o2's can make your car run like absolute ****.
Intermittent P0300 could mean many different ignition problems from something as simple as a loose plug wire to a bad opti.

Even if the tune isn't perfect, the PCM should be able to compensate for that cam. I have pretty much the same cam and I ran it untuned for a day just to see and it had no driveability problems.

If you think the O2s are bad you can try some brake cleaner on them, but get new ones, they will definitely cause trouble if they are carbon fouled.

Default just something i found on the net bout that cam

XE 230/236: (230/236 .544/.555 112lsa) w/ 1.6RR's
Features Comp’s relatively newer XE (Xtreme Energy) lobes for increased
top-end power. An excellent selection for the individual stuck between
the cc503 and the cc306 or the GM846 and GM847 etc. Because of its more
aggressive lobe design it will perform similar to its larger cc306
cousin while exhibiting slightly better drivability. Expect a very
strong mid-range and top-end with some loss in the low-end. The
beginning of pushing it with a stock bottom end and more recommend for
cars that aren’t daily drivers. Works very well in cars with built
bottom ends and head work. Automatics require high-stall converters and
gears and 6-speeds require steep gearing to run this cam successfully.
May have some cam surge, depends how good the tune is as well as stall
size/gearing.
Pass Emissions?: No
Shift Point for Maximum Performance: 6400+rpm
Idle Characteristics: Choppy Idle
M6; Require Gears?: Yes
A4; Require Stall?: 2800+ Stall Speed

Get a scantool and look at your IAC counts. If they aren't in the 20-40 range at a closed loop idle, it could tie into some of your issues.
