I learned something today - the LS1's didn't have bigger injectors!

The 3" aluminum LS1 drive shaft is a treat compared to our shitty 2.5" steel shafts. Most guys who do a gear swap try to get their hands on an LS1 shaft to curb the added vibration - I know I've got my eye out for one!

Not sure which year GM switched to the 5-pinion planetary gear sets (4L65E), but I know that later model (if not all) LS1 4L60E's had a much stronger bell housing - unlike ours (and older trannies), these LS1 specific bell housings go much further down connecting more bolts to the back of the block, giving it a lot more strength (whereas our bell housings basically stop at the sides - more or less bolting to the back of our blocks in half a circle, leaving nothing on the bottom half except a gaping opening.

EDIT: forgot to mention I think its actually a detachable bellhousing!

LT1- opti spark,

I'll soon be getting rid of my opti and going with an LS computer and ignition system.

ls1 cars look like a cheap luxury car from the front. Lucky for them most people only see their tail lights... I would at least change the hood and do something with that grill!

Gatorade!

personally I've seen too many bolt on guys destroy the LS1 driveshafts to want to swap it into anything. but thats just IMO

as for the trans didn't know there was any internal differences, just thought it was a different bellhousing.

Pu-lease, the LS1 cars are the ONLY ones that have that kind of bolt on power to bust up those aluminum driveshafts. Us LT1 guys have nothing to worry about!

If it has the 5-pinion gear sets then its the 4L65E - I'm not even sure if those 4L65's ever made it into the last years of the F-body (they may have come around for the GTO's or later model Vettes). But seeing a LS version 4L60E with that bellhousing that comes all the way around is something else. Makes you wonder why the hell they didn't re-design trans like that ages ago...

I wonder how many of these type threads are started in the LS1 forum.

I guess that's what happens when you make such a retarded generalized statement. Go show him how your LT1 is better than a LS1. I mean that is what you said, right?

Point is his car makes more power has a ton more TQ and isnt any faster. LS1s def have better heads/intake out of the factory theres no denying that.

LT1 cars will one day be seen as rare, and will be highly sought after. were the LSx cars will not. every one and their brother has one. and GM will build on that motor platform for no telling how much longer. dont get me wrong im a fan of the LSx motors and i know what they can do. but its so much more fun being the under dog.

Lt1's will be rare. = Fact. But they will not be sought after for it.

They already are rare. They will become more of a rarity as they all start dying off.

Mark my words leghumpers. LT1s will never be collected or similar. They will die old and alone.

I'd rather have the 1991/5.0tpi/t5/formula/black/cloth combo myself.

But ideally the piddly little LC2 89 car.

One thing you have all forgotten about is one un debatable fact....
THE LT1 PAVED THE WAY FOR THE LS1 lol
there is no way around it Gm tried and tried to find ways to make the Original SBC better from the factory but in the end with the LT1 it showed them what to do and what not to do. so there the LT1 is the LS1's daddy. No way around it!!! You can pick friends but family is forever. No if ands or Butts about it lol.
I would own either one. Which ever one is cheaper lol.
