Default '69 Camaro swapped with '95 LT1 Vette motor question?

I'm new here and recently bought a 69 Camaro with a 95 LT1 Vette motor with stock manifolds and some old rusty exhaust. I want to replace with new headers and exhaust but unsure if I get headers for a 95 LT1 Vette motor OR just a 69 Camaro SBC header? I want it to fit without hitting anything and clearance issues. The car is lowered about 2.5" from stock also. Thanks!

Only difference will be shape of the ports from the heads, as long as you're not using an aftermarket head with raised ports. The physical dimensions of the block and heads is the same as the SBC the car came with long ago. Clearance should not be an issue with the drop. 1st gen headers should work, IIRC.

Anyone else want to chime in?

sounds right to me but I would ask around and see what headers for the 69 have the best ground clearance for the drop.

Yes, the 1st gen SBC headers will work fine. I would find some with D ports or you MAY end up with leaks.

You can always call kooks or American Racing Headers. They will build them with the correct flanges

Check nastyz28.com

Thanks for the fast responses! Originally I was looking at Hooker shorty super comp headers for a 95 LT1 Vette because of the D-ports and just having a down pipe made to connect to the MagnaFlow exhaust. Would this work? Then a friend said to get a SBC header for 69 Camaro and I got confused?

Headers are made to fit the car and a type of engine. not just the engine. LT1 and SBC 350's have the same exhaust port configuration and the ports are close on all of them.

I have heard that if you use a 1 3/4" tube headers that you don't have to worry about running a D port header because the tube is big enough to seal the port. I have seen some 1 5/8" round port leak and others not on LT1 heads.

I have LPP's wich have a 1 3/4 primary at the flange and they are not exactly D ports and I have never had a leak at the flange. Other places but not there.
