drain all the oil, drain all the water. if you see the oil milky, you're done, pull the heads and see what is going on, could be just a head gasket. It's all comon hand tools, so don't think you don't have what it takes short of going to buy some sockets/wrenches and a few extensions. on the cheap, get it all from harbor freight.
if the oil is fine, then you need to drain all the fluids and refill based on proper amounts, not keep adding water without knowing how much you put in.

So heres your options, the way I see it.
1. Go back to the douchebag that sold you the thing, and get your money back, if he doesn't give it to you, friend or not, beat it out of him.
2. Rebuild/swap the motor. These LT1's are pretty fun, you'll enjoy it.
3. Part it out, you can easily double your money and then some

no nut punching. i cant fault the guy, he wasnt exactly the intelligent type. i honestly think that he thought all that was wrong was a leaky water pump. I felt like i robbed him when i got the car for $1,000. Now it looks like i have a large red paper weight.

Alright man. Drain the oil like if you are doing an oil change (please say you can atleast do that). Check the oil coming out and if you see the same yellow milkshake in your oil catch pan then you my friend are in for the long haul. You will have to decide on buying another motor, having it rebuilt, or parting it out. I would say the best bet is start shopping around for a good shop to do the rebuild. If the cars body/chassis wise is good, then you still have a pretty good deal considering your motor will technically new. don't get stressed over this cuz it will do you no good. and like someone said earlier, you will never learn how to work on cars till you try it. this sounds like the best opportunity to start learning. good luck

pull the valve covers and see if it looks like a milkshake. if it does, replace headgaskets. thats probably ur best bet but do a compression check. when i blew mine, my motor would shut down and not start back up. IDK why, but it did that too.

I'm with this guy it's time to pull it but if you don't have the abillity to do it your self then the price will easy be double. You could just sell it as a roller with bum engine and still get the 1000 bucks back out of it. I don't think your upside down but post up some pics if you can of the car.
