Sigh more 383 problems. Fall down go boom

The car sometimes (not always) made a knocking or tapping noise for about half a second to one full second then stopped on start up. Builder said this was normal until all the air got out of the oiling system.
I drove it yesterday and it seemed perfectly fine. Good oil pressure, good coolant temperature, etc. Then when I decided to let her rip it had no power at all at about 4000rpm. I left off the gas, heard a small boom and oil pressure went to zero (or damn near zero). I unplugged the injector fuses and cranked (it did turn over but still zero pressure).
Now I have it towed to the builder's shop, I'm thinking it could be a clogged (rtv) or broken oil pump or pickup, but would that cause a lack of power too?

Oh and I don't think you should ever have "air in the oiling system" never heard of a stock vehicle doing that which means a properly built and running modded car shouldn't do it.

And all the ignition/fuel components are good.

Well if he's any sort of a quality builder he'll warranty the work and part in the bottom end that went boom. If your lucky it may be a spun bearing. If you are unlucky you may need a new crank. Good luck.

Who dropped the engine in?
You have full power to 4000rpm then nothing or do you feel it skip?
I'd check to make sure the shaft didnt break or become dislodged, run your plug wires and make sure you're not arcing on your headers, and finally make sure your rear main seal isnt leaking oil which could be on your clutch/flywheel assembly.
I'm with quick95lt1, that oil pan has to come off.
