Default gets spark but no start/bad opti??

ok so since my last post has 0 responses and 24 views i decided to make another one in a simpler description. car wont start. has fuel, has spark. could an opti be sparking and still be faulty? i dont think it can but maybe someone else has seen it.

I'm no expert but if you have spark, you have spark.

went back and looked at all your post, really sounds like you are getting way too much fuel. You'll need proper scanning ability to find out why. Good Luck!

have seen the opti give spark on my car..the rotor was half way falling off but was still able to give spark but wouldn't start and would cause backfire...when i sprayed starter fluid in it...I have had nightmares with the opti changed it out a couple times heres the best way to see if your problem is an electic problem or not...

[QUOTE=blk3rdgen91;16025875]have seen the opti give spark on my car.. but wouldn't start

Same Here, My car would crank over but didnt even try to start, I even pulled the #1 plug and checked the timing of the spark vs the compression stroke and it seemed to be in line, Changed out the opti..and good to go..

Spark and no start is a good indication the rotor screws have backed out and rotor may be spinning and firing different plugs at will. First thing to do is remove cap from opti to see what you can see. Problem will be glaringly obvious.

Crank sensors just check for misfires on the 96-97 engines.

Had the same problem in my 93 z28 its your sensor for the if ignition that is mounted above your coil change that sensor and it should start up with no problems if that don't work then yes it would be either your optispark or your coil that is bad

Having the same problem with my 95 now. I get spark at the coil and plugs, good fuel pressure but the engine will not start. I think that the opti is not triggering the injectors. I'm just going to replace it and see what happens.

Spray ether into the intake. If the car starts it a fuel problem. If the car doesn't start there is no spark.

^ Put a screw driver against the injector and the handle end to your ear, you will hear a click if the injectors are firing.

Just because an injector is clicking or making noise does not mean its working properly.

I would check to see if the spark is hot or cold.
If hot I would move right to fuel.
if cold then I would check coil and rotor
If fuel, is regulator line have fuel in it? Correct fuel pressure?

Quick Reply: gets spark but no start/bad opti??
