Default Ported Intake, where to get done

I am looking to get my intake ported but was wondering where you guys get yours done at a decent price? I got a quote of $110.00 plus shipping from TPIS Tech.

Thanks

What are they doing to it? AI will do a street/strip port polish for 350. LE also does intake manifolds.

With your mods, that $350 would be better fit towards roller rockers and springs. I know you want it to match your 58mm throttle body, but to just do that you can just get a dremel and do it yourself. And to be honest, that $350 58mm throttle body would have better been spent on a cam. Ported intake and bigger than stock throttle bodys arnt needed (or will give you any benefit) if you are under 400rwhp. Your motor is only a strong as the weakest link, and the intake and throttle body are not them yet.

The stock intake manifold has been tested to flow fine up to 450hp.

Stupid question but where did the $350 come from? I want to put the TB on it since I will be adding a cam to it soon. I am thinking about doing the cc503 cam and I want to port the intake now.

Save your money. Buy a dremel if you don't have one, and just port the opening to 58mm. Don't worry about an expensive port/polish that won't help you at your modification level.

Take your time and do your research and use different car Forums as your free source of information. You have already spent some money on questionable mods, but doing your homework will save you more costly mistakes in the future.

ohh so I can just do it my self? i don't have to port anything on the bottom of the intake that goes into the block? another stupid question, do i have to take the intake off if I use the dremel? I know the shavings will get everywhere but if I can save time will this work without taking it off?

There is a write up somewhere.

What I did was mask off the engine bay with plastic bags, then stuff lightly oiled rags inside the intake holes. I marked it using the 58mm gasket, then dremeled it all out. I then pulled out the rags, which caught and removed the shavings, and shop vac'd everything before removing the garbage bags. I should have a picture saved somewhere...

...Yep, here it is:

You also need to do springs with a cam swap and 1.6 rockers will benefit it a lot.

A .540/.545 lift (random numbers to show difference) at 1.5 will equal .576/.581 on 1.6.

.540 / 1.5 x 1.6 = new lift

so lift divided by rocker ratio times the new rocker ratio gives you the new lift.

Yea I would also have to get my heads machined or get new heads

How much does a package like this cost with everything?

IMO it's not worth the risk to port the intake with it still on the engine. No matter what kind of precautions you can take some shavings will always make it through. But that's just me.

Expect to pay around $2000 for a GOOD heads/cam package.

You dont "have" to get your heads machined, or even touch them, besides swapping springs and rockers. Yes, a good set of ported heads will give you anywhere from 30-80 extra hp, but with a good 224ish/230ish cam you should be around 350 whp. check out http://elliottsportworks.com/ or http://www.advancedinduction.com/ for complete packages.

^ You do not need to touch the heads at all for a cam swap.

Any cam can be run on stock heads, but I would ill-advise against the 847 on stock heads.
