Default what does your 9.5"converter slip?

Just curious what everyone elses converter is slipping on the big end. My vigilante 4000 is right around 9%. As you can see in my sig it gains significantly locking it up.

When you say "big end", what rpm is that? It will "slip" less at higher rpm's.
It will also slip more or less depending on what part of the torque curve you're on at the big end.
My 8" 4200 ATI slips 5 to 6% at 7000 rpm behind my "low torque" 350.
It's a little more hooked up than the similarly-stalled 9.5" converters I've tried.
A Yank SS3600 (9.5") behind my stock engine had less than 2% slip at 5900 rpm.

too friggin much!!! lol....my data logger is picking up a 11% difference between rpm and output shaft speed im now on my 8200rpm rev limiter just as i come through the traps and thats in 2000ft da....the ATI should drop that down to 5-6% like pat said above which should drop me down to 7700-7800 with the 134-135mph trap....if the car picks back up a couple which i hope it will should be mint right around 8000 at 137ish.........i got the car tuned nice this weekend so im ordering the big boy converter today........

Mike, from what I've seen, the 8" takes over being more efficient after you pass the 4200-4400 stall range, and I know you're running a lot higher stall than that, so I expect you to see a HUGE gain for you car with this

I'm calculating this based on 130 mph and around 6000 rpm. I may consider a yank 3600 after I see how this thing performs hopefully this weekend

6000 rpm is nowhere near enough to utilize a 4000 rpm converter. The car hasn't "caught up to the converter" yet.
If you looked at it at 7000, it would show far less "slip".

The 3000 that was in there was too tight so they loosened it up and its around 3800-4000. This motor will go 7000 but I just don't have the gear. As far as the dyno it lost no power between the old and new.

very true........even though mine still slips 11% with a 4800 stall at over 8000 lol
