Default Long tubes vs Mid lengths

hey guys, had an accident today. My girl and i had my 1996 trans am on a POS pep-boys "racing" floor jack to put it on jack stand's, that went well, but before i dropped it i forgot i had a jack stand under the car. Out of no where, before i could fully remove the jack stand, the floor jack failed, and the car came down on the one the jack, and bending my passenger side header by the y pipe, and did a number on that as well. luckily, i saw it creeping down slowly before it totally crashed... anyway, i can always opt for a new set of pacesetter's for 300, but i have a good deal on some mid's. should i just go for the longtubes, or is the gain, not worth the extra 150 buck's? im not going crazy with this car right now, just a mild bolt on car, thanks guys!!

it just depends on how much money you want to spend... you could get a set of brand new long tubes or you can take a small hp hit and do the mids .... if the mids have 1 3/4" primaries then you wont lose a whole lot. but if there 1 5/8" then you would probably notice it

I would put MAC midlength against a lot of short or mid headers and win with overall power.

i had mids for about 2 weeks before i got smart and ordered long tubes. if emissions and inspections are not an issue then the decision should be a no-brainer

I had SLP shorties which are more of a mid and Hooker LTs on my LT1 car. To be honest I like the shorties better because they lasted longer. The LTs (Hookers anyway) hung so low that they were always into the road grime and took a beating. If you get LTs... just get a set that tuck up tight. Performance-wise I dont know that you would notice much different but I did like the sound of the LTs much better.

I researched for a while before buying my Mac mids - true, LTs will give more peak power in the higher RPMs, mids have a fatter curve and more power in the lower RPMs... perfect for me since I drive my car daily and rarely rev higher than 4k

Plus, ground clearance is incredible - my fender tabs are the lowest point on my car

I have pacesetter LTs and I know my ground clearance is really good, I dont think they sit much lower then the fender tabs, if at all.

But the 4k part, I DD my car as well and every time I leave a stop I take first to at least 4k

I have no ground clearence issues with my LT. My car is dropped 1.2''. The thing that gets hit the most is my air dam

I believe they are rebranded pacesetters. Look just like mine.

I loved my mac mids. I went with ebay (kooks rip off) lt's and almost wish i stayed witht he mac's. There fitment was perfect they freed up alot of power and they sounded great. I Love the LT's but ground clearance is a PITA and so is trying to get to the oil filter.
