Default lt1 camaro vs 440 c5 zo6

So I have this race set up for only $100 but its mostly pride... I'm racing my dad with his 440 ls2 zo6. It makes 570rwhp. My set up it forged 383, cc350, ported heads and intake, shorty headers, and a v7 ysi.... My problem is with a 7.8 crank and 2.95 blower pulley its only making 9# boost at 6300. I need a lot more then that to beat him. The motor is built for 20# it just seems with those pulleys I should be making more boost. Any ideas what pulleys I can use to make 18# ? I need to rep the LT1s and take down this Vette. Any help is appreciated .

You do know you need to re-tune it if you raise the boost, right?

You guys and your abbreviations. What is a v7 ysi?

Boost numbers mean nothing concerning power.... Just the restriction. A better flowing head and more cam will lower the boost "Number", but make more power. Don't get caught up that you "should" be making XX lb of boost. Have you put your car on the dyno, or have track numbers??

Actually, changing a pulley to raise boost will increase power. Done that while still sitting on my dyno too many times. Does take a re-tune if it was near the edge before. You are correct that a given set of pulleys won't make the same boost on an engine with ported heads, good exhaust, etc.

I doubt he's going to beat that Vette if his Dad can drive.

Hate to say it but I agree with the above. I think you're just a step behind your dad. You MIGHT make more power but that Z06 is probably 800# lighter.

So lets look at a cpl things here bcuz theres alot of things that are left out on ur set up now if that vette makes 570 and can actually put it down, u will need to run probably 650 rwhp to beat him, which may be possible depending on how built ur car is. U wont do it w a single fuel pump setup u wld have to have 2 or a external pump. U would definately need more boost like Ed said it is possible by changing pulleys but wld have to redo the tune, but more importantly u would need large heads to do this 195 ansd larger free flowing intake and exhaust or else ur rise in boost pressure will be just that a rise in pressure from restriction mainly your heads and intake. So yes i agree w Ed and Ramair, but it can be done with that blower but u need alot of other things as well, not just pulleys and a tune.

I understand the boost is a restriction.. with my small cam and heads the boost is going to be high. Also he said I can call the race. Being that he is lighter I was thinking like a 30-40 roll. And with the tune that's not a problem. I'm running a 2 bar SD that I do myself. Wot tuning is pretty simple. I also have 4:10 gears and I'm not sure if that will hurt me or help me

At lt1needingboost. I have twin intake pumps. So part of the deal is I cant change the heads.... That being said what about some race gas. I can get some 110 octane and crank up the timing. Also why is my boost so low the those pulleys?

Truthfully whether you go from a roll or a dig he's probably going to get you.

That $100 must be really important to you considering you're willing to spend money to make it.

i dont know much abt vortech blowers i run a procharger and have never changed pulleys on mine accept on original set up so that being said obviously to get more boost u have make the blower go faster. So i wld say change pulleys but to do this correctly u almost have to have dyno x to know, its the easiest way to set up a blower i know thats probably not what u wanted to hear, other than that ask some vortech lt1 guys what they run and try it that u still have to make sure ur not leaning the car though so the tune will be necessary, i guess i dont know what u can do as far as time before this race but i dont think race gas will make up the difference id say maybe meth but ud need more boost to make that effective as well. My first suggestion is to ask the other vortech lt1 guys on here abt pulley sizes ,Ysilt1 i think is one of them other wise Takid knows lt1s and blowers very well thats who i got my set up from hes very knowledgable in blowers hes just finishing a custom fabricated whipple for a lt1. Any of these guys can probably help u as well ask Ed hes a wealth of knowledge all of these guys are, ur gonna need to know ur head volume though to judge if its possible.
