amazing, those MSD guys are really working too hard these days .... just think, only 7 years after they quit making the LT1 they come out with this.
Wait a minute. I know what happened. GM paid them to hold off of the release of it until the got rid of the overstock of the OE opti's

Just for any b-body guys that may be reading the 94 b-body got the "95" and later vented opti.
I think the fact that the mainsteam aftermarket has not developed much in the way of opti replacements shows that it is not as bad as people make it out to be at least the vented ones are not. At 96K I swapped out my original and it turned out not to be the problem, now at a few hundred miles shy of 160K and no problems with the second, no way I would have eer left a gen1 cap and rotor in the car even the 60K+ my second opti has much less the 96k I had on the first. It was new and different those are the primary reasons it is "bad"

I will agree the opti realy is not that bad. I have one car that we got 76,000 miles out of the first one. Then I have one car with MSD ignition and coil. This one eats an opti every 14k miles or so since I put the MSD on. The opti it self is usually fine but the cap and rotor are ate up just like a standard cap and rotor get. So in this are it is great they came out with this set. Gm did not offer it till a few years ago. And they cost over half of what a new opti does. Probably why I have almost dozen opti's laying here.
So having a cap and rotor, hopfully at a fair price, will be great for all the dead ones I have. Except the four that lost res signals and bearings.
Now if it was just a little easier to replace
I can do a cap and rotor on my new setup in about ten minutes

Clearly not reading...
MSD GM LT-1 Distributor Cap/Rotor, 1993-94 PN 8481, 1995-97, PN 84811
I'm sure they are a lot better than the GM offerings or the NAPA replacements. Probably be made to handle a lot more RPM reliably than the shatter prone opti.

I had a Jacobs box on the opti that lasted to 96K without issue, the box was on for awhile not really sure how long but was put on after 50K and I removed it when it crapped out. It was throwing more juice since it ate plugs pretty quick didn't get anything but plug wear and troubles from that thing, but it never seemed to hurt the opti.

there have been issue on both of the after market setups. Deltec has been saying it has an Opti free solution but has not brought it out in over a year.
Most people do not push the Opti's as far as the rest of us and that has a tendency to make a differance.

When I first looked at the link, I swear it didn't have the vented opti listed. I looked, because I was interested (even though I run the LTCC...) There is also a new products list on another site that has the SEMA announcement by MSD and they didn't list the vented version. I jumped to the conclusion...
