K&N FIPK - Filter won't stay on!
#1
LT1: K&N FIPK - filter keeps falling off!
I don't know if I'm just a freaking retard or what, but I've had my FIPK for 5 or 6 years now and every time I try to attach it, it only stays on for like 6 months! I'm tired of having to deal with this, do I have the wrong filter or what? I don't even see how you're really supposed to fit this on, the positioning makes it really tough to get to. The only thing that I can think of is to take out the inner fenderwell, but that seems kind of extreme. Please tell me K&N had a recall or something, this is retarded!

remove the splash panel underneath the left front. have someone hold the filter in place as far up on the plastic boot as possible while you wrap a huge hose clamp around it...tighten it up snug(not too much, but not too little..kind of a fine line there). after doing this i havent had any problems in over a year now.

I had some difficulty getting a good fit with my filter too. Get someone to push down on the tube from the top, while you tighten the filter from the bottom. But if you are without help, get a towel, fold it up and place it on top of the tube, then close the hood. If the towel is thick enough and in the right place, closing the hood should push the tube down enough you can install the filter correctly.

Just take a dremel or cutoff saw to the part that the filter tube stick into. I sliced some off mine (well, hacked really) and getting the filter on there is about 7.33 times easier.

Mine did the same thing. I just took out the plastic piece out where the filter and induction tube meet. and just put the filter on the induction tube with a dab of superglue in one spot.. And no more problems..

Yeah guys thanks for the help, I got a buddy to hold down the tube for me and you were right, it fits on now. That stupid thing that the tube sticks down through is too long, it doesn't let the filter get all the way onto the tube. I guess that's what you get for buying something from ... *gasp* ... Discount Auto Parts!
