Default Just bought my first LT1

Mods in sig. What do you guys think I should do next? I was thinking headers, converter and gears since it currently has 2.73s.

Now I suppose I need to change my screenname.

it looks like you have a good start so far. I wouldnt get into a rush for gears as ive owned a 2.73 car and a 3.23 car and didnt really notice any difference other than a slightly harder 1-2 shift in the 3.23 car.

stall and headers should be next imo. Yank it

Congrats, your on the right track, torque converter, Long tubes and 3.73s will really wake it up a lot. Plenty of folks have hit 12s like that on drag radials and skinnies easy. A cheaper alternative that I have seen folks do is find a complete 10 bolt with 3.42s from a six speed car, may be a little harder now a days.

Start off with a torque converter and subframe connecters, and take it from there..

Congrats on the car man

Well yeah, if I was going to do gears I wouldn't just switch to 3.23s. That would be kind of pointless. I would either do 3.73s or 4.10s.

If your gonna do gears, do 3.73's or 3.43's considering your auto, I've heard good things about 3.43's on daily driver cars but I haven't really heard anything bad about 3.73's either.

Btw, thanks to everyone that posted info on LT1 reliability in this section recently. I drove this car 1000+ miles right off the bat the first two days I had it, and didn't experience any significant issues doing that even though it has 120k+ on it. For most of the trip the ride was actually smoother the faster I went.

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention I will probably do a tune as the first mod since right now this car is governed at 105

Ouch 105, I don't think my car governs because of the HyperTech chip, but I've only had it to 152.

Those chips only deal with temperature stuff I believe. Top speed limiter is controlled by the PCM.

congrats... yeah, just do longtubes, 3200ish stall, DR's, and a small shot of nitrous, makes one hell of a street car.

Sounds great. Looks like you live close to Atlanta. You should check out the southern section. Lots of nice guys there. Mostly LS1s with the exception of me and DietCoke.

Yeah I will do that. I'm in Macon for the rest of the summer but will be back in Atl for school in August. I'll try to come out and meet some of you guys.

4.10s for an a4 is a bad idea you will be at 4500 rpm in no time... my friend had them on his 01 SS and he took them out the next day, lol. longtubes really woke my car up, now im saving up for a CC306 and then a nice stall

I disagree- at 70 mph I am at about 3k rpm. I have had 3.23/3.73 and now 4.10. I'n my opinion these are the best.
